Senior Bridge Coatings Superintendent

$80K – $150K Annually (Based on Experience, Qualifications & Certifications)

Saffo Contractors, Inc. is a nationally recognized specialty coatings and bridge maintenance contractor with projects across the East Coast. We are seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Coatings Superintendent to join our bridge and industrial divisions.

This role oversees all construction activities for one or more major infrastructure projects. It is a senior-level leadership role, not entry-level, and requires demonstrable experience in heavy civil construction and bridge coatings.

Key Responsibilities

Lead field operations and ensure strict compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.

Supervise foremen, field engineers, and subcontractors to drive production, quality, and safety.

Develop and manage work methods, manpower scheduling, materials, and equipment needs.

Review project submittals, shop drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance.

Monitor daily production, schedules, and budgets; track and document project performance using company-approved systems.

Present updates during owner meetings; communicate progress clearly to project stakeholders.

Identify hazards and coordinate with utility companies, engineers, and crews to ensure a safe work environment.

Proactively forecast schedules and resolve potential delays or technical challenges.

Provide mentorship and leadership to field staff, cultivating a strong safety and quality culture.

Oversee project close-out activities in alignment with company and owner standards.

Qualifications

5–10 years of heavy civil construction experience.

3+ years as a coatings superintendent or inspector (required).

Foreman-level knowledge in:

o Bridge maintenance, cleaning, and repainting

o Painting containment systems

o Epoxy coatings

o Bridge jacking (a plus)

o ADI/ARS Recycling Systems (a plus)

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage complex construction projects with strict safety and quality standards.

Valid driver’s license.

Minimum of a NACE Level 1 (required)

Preferred Qualifications (a plus)

Knowledge of steel bearing replacement, pour repairs, joint repairs, concrete repairs, shotcrete, beam plating, steel beam repairs, epoxy resin injection.

Familiarity with shotcrete, blasting, and painting equipment.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.

Professional certifications such as NACE Level 1, C3/C5, Certified Application Specialist, OSHA 30.
