Full Job Description

Position Summary

St. Benedict’s Preparatory School seeks a mission-aligned, part-time instructor to join the launch of its new Health Sciences Academy and teach early college, credit-bearing courses. In the 2026-27 school year, this role will teach one dual-enrollment course per semester in the Foundations of Health Sciences. These are Saint Peter’s University courses, delivered on the grounds of St. Benedict’s Prep, with curriculum and training provided by Saint Peter’s University in partnership with the St. Benedict’s Prep department and leadership teams. This role offers the opportunity to help shape a new and growing program at its outset and is expected to expand into a full-time position over time, including additional teaching responsibilities and program coordination as the Academy grows.

About the Health Sciences Academy

The Health Sciences Academy at St. Benedict’s – launching in the fall of 2026 - is a structured three-year pathway in grades 10 to 12 that integrates dual-enrollment coursework and industry-recognized credentials into the student experience. Students may earn 18 to 30 college credits while preparing for careers in healthcare or continued postsecondary study. The model takes place fully on the grounds of St. Benedict’s and aligned with St. Benedict’s commitment to a cohesive, community-centered student experience.

Primary Responsibilities

Instruction and Classroom Practice

· Teach one Saint Peter’s University dual-enrollment courses per semester in Health Sciences Foundations delivered on the grounds of St. Benedict’s Prep

· Deliver instruction aligned to university curriculum and expectations while embodying the instructional culture of St. Benedict’s Prep

· Foster a rigorous and supportive classroom environment that prepares students for college-level work

· Assess student learning using aligned grading practices and provide timely and actionable feedback

Program Alignment and Collaboration

· Participate in onboarding and ongoing curriculum training provided jointly by Saint Peter’s University and the St. Benedict’s Prep leadership team

· Collaborate with school leadership and program staff to ensure strong alignment between high school and university expectations

· Support vertical alignment of coursework across grades 10 to 12 within the Health Sciences pathway

Student Support

· Provide academic support and advising to students navigating college-level coursework for the first time

· Reinforce habits of scholarship, organization, and self-advocacy

· Partner with student support staff as needed to ensure student success

Qualifications

· Master’s degree in a science-related field (required)

· Prior experience teaching at the high school or college level preferred

· Demonstrated ability to support first-generation college students or students in rigorous academic pathways

· Strong alignment with the mission and community ethos of St. Benedict’s Preparatory School

Growth Opportunity 2026 to 2027 and Beyond

This role is expected to transition into a full-time position in the 2027 to 2028 school year as the Health Sciences Academy reaches full implementation. As the program grows, the instructor will have the opportunity to play a central role in shaping both the student experience and the overall design of the pathway. A full-time role will likely include additional course sections, leadership of key program components, and meaningful program coordination responsibilities such as overseeing credential logistics, managing partnerships, and ensuring compliance. It will also include deeper involvement in curriculum alignment, pathway design across grades 10 to 12, and continuous improvement efforts, positioning the individual as a core member of the Academy’s instructional and leadership team.

Compensation

This is a part-time, academic-year position with a salary range of $30,000–$45,000. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and aligned with dual-enrollment teaching expectations, including preparation, instruction, and coordination with the partner institution. This role runs from September through April and reflects the scope and schedule of the academic program.
