Position Summary

We are seeking an innovative, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy Buyer to drive our purchasing operations and modernize our supply chain workflows. In this role, you will manage core procurement activities—including purchase orders, contract management, vendor negotiations, and inventory planning—while leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), workflow automation, and advanced data analytics to optimize operations.

The ideal candidate blends traditional manufacturing procurement expertise with modern digital literacy, using technology to enhance forecasting accuracy, automate repetitive tasks, reduce landed costs, and drive accountability across our supplier base.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Operations

Manage the end-to-end purchasing lifecycle for assigned commodities using visual replenishment systems and ERP (SAP) tools.
Generate, issue, track, and reconcile Purchase Orders (POs) while managing invoice discrepancies alongside Accounts Payable.
Source non-standard items, negotiate pricing, and actively analyze landed costs to control freight spend in alignment with strategic goals.
Maintain precision across supplier master data, pricing tables, and contract terms within SAP.

2. AI Integration & Workflow Automation

Leverage Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, legal/contract AI) to assist in drafting, reviewing, and summarizing vendor contract terms, identifying unfavorable clauses and risk exposure.
Implement everyday workflow automations (e.g., Power Automate, macros, custom prompt frameworks) to streamline PO tracking, routine vendor communications, and data entry.
Evaluate emerging procurement tools for data security, team utility, and tangible ROI before cross-functional rollout.

3. Predictive Analytics & Demand Forecasting

Utilize machine learning features, advanced ERP analytics, and market data to anticipate seasonal demand shifts, optimize reorder points, and adjust safety stock levels.
Audit and validate automated forecasting outputs against historical purchasing patterns and sales input prior to execution.
Conduct market intelligence and price trend analysis for raw materials and non-standard goods using analytical tools and data scraping to proactively navigate cost fluctuations.
Audit ERP inventory data routinely to identify bad vendor data or stock discrepancies that could compromise automated purchasing algorithms.

4. Data-Backed Vendor Management

Prepare for supplier negotiations using data visualizers, market benchmarking tools, and AI-simulated scenario planning.
Build or utilize real-time vendor performance dashboards to monitor lead times, on-time delivery rates, product quality, and landed cost compliance.
Lead cross-functional alignment between sales, warehouse management, and procurement to act on customer purchasing pattern changes.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience

Experience: 3–5 years of dedicated experience in a Buyer, Procurement, or Supply Chain role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial distribution environment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Technical Proficiency:
Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, with an emphasis on Excel, Power BI, or Power Automate.
Demonstrated, practical application of Generative AI tools and prompt engineering within daily operational workflows.
Core Competencies: Strong contract negotiation skills, analytical problem-solving, acute attention to detail, and a proactive approach to continuous process improvement.
