JOB DESCRIPTION

FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Senior Estimator
Review Date: January 25, 2025
Salary Range: 66,919 – 100,378

Summary/Objective
Identify and pursue prospective opportunities for Syncon through development of detailed cost analysis in accordance with industry best practices. This position requires someone who has expert level knowledge and experience in the Construction Design / Build industry and the ability to perform detailed and accurate complex mathematical analysis and read/understanding drawings/specifications.

Essential Functions

Negotiate contracts, maintain the stipulated fee and general conditions by careful and exact scoping of both SYNCON and subcontractor/vendor work.
Review the specifications and drawings, select sub trades, and send out the bid request.
Manage and develop subcontractor relationships during all stages of the bid process.
Review details of the contract documents, drawings, specs, and proposal schedule development. Make recommendations and reassess the initial pursuit ranking (1-5) and make changes as necessary.
Identify and develop risk management related to the estimate.
Schedule time with Executives for Project overview and GC review prior to bid day.
Review all quotes for accuracy.
Coordinate with Design Team on RFI’s, design requirements/deliverables and throughout the Design process until 100% design documents and buyout are complete.
Maintain a detailed and functional spreadsheet for Project.
Help improving Pre-Construction Processes between various departments.
Assist with maintaining the estimating schedule to effectively manage personnel and departmental timelines to support the estimating production requirements.
Support Estimating Team for bid day preparation and Bids on Bid Day.
Support the emerging commercial market with estimating, subcontractor database development and development of relevant pre-construction processes and procedures.
Support the research for future estimating opportunities by researching federal and commercial websites.
Assist in developing estimating strategy for each opportunity with Syncon leadership.
Complete Rough draft budget to be sent to Construction PM for finalization.
Complete buyout and written Rough Draft Attachment Ones for Construction PM to review and send out to Subcontractors.

10. Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
11. Ethics and Integrity: Conducting all estimating activities with honesty and integrity.
12. Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with industry trends and best practices.

Required Education and Experience

High School or equivalent

1-3 years’ commercial construction estimating experience/OR recent college graduate with coursework taken in construction, project management, estimating or other related fields

Preferred Education and Experience

4-yr degree in engineering, architecture

Training
Currently be certified or obtain certification within 30 days of employment and maintain current certifications related to this position.
