Full Job Description

Join a Growing Outpatient Interventional Radiology & Vascular Practice

Leg Pain & Vascular Institute is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong background in Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Catheterization Lab to join our expanding outpatient Office-Based Lab (OBL).

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys procedural nursing, moderate sedation, and providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced outpatient environment—without nights, weekends, or hospital call.

Schedule

Part Time or Full-Time
3-5 days per week (Monday–Friday)
No weekends
No holidays
No overnight call

Work Locations

This position requires travel between both practice locations:

Houston, TX 77065
Houston, TX 77034

Reliable transportation and flexibility to work at both offices are required.

What You'll Do

Pre-Procedure Care

Perform comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments
Review medical history, medications, allergies, and laboratory results
Establish IV access and prepare patients for image-guided procedures
Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and discharge expectations
Ensure informed consents and safety checklists are complete

Intra-Procedure Responsibilities

Independently monitor patients receiving moderate (conscious) sedation
Administer IV medications under physician direction
Continuously assess cardiac rhythm, oxygenation, blood pressure, airway, and patient comfort
Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
Accurately document medications, sedation levels, and procedural events
Assist the physician during minimally invasive vascular and interventional radiology procedures

Post-Procedure Recovery

Monitor patients through recovery until discharge criteria are met
Provide discharge instructions and patient education
Coordinate follow-up care
Manage post-procedure complications when necessary

Additional Responsibilities

Assist with outpatient vein procedures
Provide support of clinic operations and seeing patients on non procedural days
Maintain procedural supplies and medication inventory
Follow infection prevention, radiation safety, and regulatory standards
Collaborate closely with physicians, medical assistants, technologists, and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow

Required Qualifications

Active Texas Registered Nurse license
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Minimum 2 years of recent Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Catheterization Lab nursing experience
Demonstrated experience providing moderate (conscious) sedation
Strong IV insertion and vascular access skills
Experience with pre-operative assessment and post-anesthesia/procedure recovery
Excellent clinical judgment and emergency response skills
Ability to multitask in a busy outpatient procedural setting
Must be willing to work at both Houston office locations (77065 and 77034)

Preferred Qualifications

Office-Based Lab (OBL) or Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, Vascular Surgery, or Endovascular experience
Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (eCW)
Experience with vein procedures or vascular patient care
Comfortable assisting with clinic workflow when not in procedures
