Full Job Description

Strategic Results is seeking a Publication Coordinator to support the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Office of Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T) by coordinating the development, review, production, and distribution of technical publications and communications products. The Publication Coordinator will work with Government staff, technical authors, editors, graphic designers, printers, and other communications professionals to ensure publications progress efficiently through each stage of the production process and are delivered in accordance with established schedules and quality standards.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized communications professional with strong project coordination skills who can manage multiple publication schedules, maintain production workflows, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

· Coordinate the production of technical reports, brochures, newsletters, fact sheets, manuals, and other FHWA publications.

· Develop and maintain publication schedules and monitor production milestones from manuscript development through final distribution.

· Coordinate document reviews and consolidate comments from Government staff, technical subject matter experts, writers, editors, and designers.

· Track publication status and communicate schedule updates to project teams.

· Coordinate the movement of publications through writing, editing, design, review, approval, production, and distribution.

· Ensure all required files and supporting materials are complete before advancing products to the next stage of production.

· Maintain publication tracking logs, production records, and document version histories.

· Coordinate with graphic designers, editors, and production personnel to ensure publications meet established schedules.

· Assist with preparing publications for print and electronic distribution.

· Coordinate publication approvals prior to release.

· Support inventory management and distribution of printed and electronic publications, as assigned.

· Maintain organized electronic files and publication archives.

· Participate in project meetings and provide updates on publication schedules and production activities.

· Recommend process improvements that enhance publication workflow, coordination, and production efficiency.

Qualifications

Required:

· Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Publishing, Business Administration, or a related field, and 2+ years of experience.

· Demonstrated experience coordinating publication or document production activities.

· Strong organizational and project coordination skills.

· Experience tracking multiple projects and managing competing deadlines.

· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Ability to coordinate activities among multiple stakeholders.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate production records.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred:

· Experience supporting Federal Government publication or communications programs.

· Experience coordinating technical, scientific, engineering, or research publications.

· Familiarity with publication production workflows for print and digital products.

· Experience working with multidisciplinary communications teams.

· Knowledge of document management and version control practices.

· Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility considerations for published materials.
