Are you fast, sharp, and self-driven — with zero interest in being managed step by step?

Discount Pipe & Steel is hiring a Counter Sales Rep to be the front line of our business — the voice on the phone, the reply on the text, and the closer at the counter. You'll handle every inbound call, text, and walk-in with speed and precision, and help us generate new business by posting our inventory to Facebook Marketplace and converting those leads into sales.

We're not looking for someone who needs a task list to stay busy. We're looking for someone who sees an inbound lead, a text, or an open opportunity — and takes it, without being told to.

What You'll Be Doing

Answer inbound calls and texts to the office line quickly and professionally, every time.
Post our products to Facebook Marketplace using your personal Facebook profile (a Meta platform requirement — Marketplace listings can only run through personal profiles, not business Pages), and manage those leads from first message to close.
Log every Marketplace lead into our CRM/tracking sheet the same day it comes in — no exceptions. This keeps the pipeline intact and searchable, regardless of who's working it.
Greet and assist walk-in customers at the counter with accurate quotes and fast service.
Calculate pricing on the spot based on quantity, product, and order specifics.
Upsell and cross-sell where it makes sense — every ticket is a chance to add value for the customer and revenue for us.
Follow up on every lead until it's a yes or a hard no.
Manage calls, texts, Marketplace messages, and walk-ins simultaneously without dropping the ball.
Own your day — if something needs doing, you do it.

What Sets You Apart

Fast responder — a missed call or unanswered text bothers you as much as it bothers the customer.
Comfortable juggling four things at once without losing track of details.
Takes ownership — "not my job" isn't in your vocabulary.
Coachable — takes feedback and applies it without needing to be told twice.
Solid with basic math and quoting on the fly.
Reliable — shows up on time, every day.

Bonus Experience

Steel, construction, industrial materials, or counter sales background.
Experience selling or managing leads through Facebook Marketplace or similar platforms.
Fast-paced retail, counter, or call-center experience.

This Job Is NOT for You If

You need a daily to-do list or check-ins to get moving.
You let calls go to voicemail or texts sit unanswered because you're "busy."
You need constant praise or reassurance to stay motivated.
You think "good enough" is good enough.
You get flustered when three things come at you at once.
You're not willing to use your personal Facebook profile for Marketplace postings, or you'd let leads sit unlogged instead of tracking them same-day.

Requirements

Prior sales, customer service, or counter experience preferred.
Must have an active personal Facebook profile and be willing to use it for Marketplace postings (required by Facebook's platform rules — business Pages can't post to Marketplace).
Daily lead logging into our CRM/spreadsheet is a non-negotiable part of this role.
Basic math skills for pricing and order quantities.
Strong organizational skills across multiple communication channels.
Reliable, coachable, and self-motivated.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Full-time, in-office position.

Pay: $30,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
