THE POSITION

As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, you will help keep LIHEAP operations on track and running smoothly. This position provides meaningful work that supports residents who depend on timely assistance. You will be part of a team that values accuracy, teamwork, and public service. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides clerical support that helps ensure accurate processing and timely service for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Data Entry: Input information into automated systems and review results for accuracy and compliance
Application Processing: Receive and register applications and complete file clearances according to established procedures
Inquiry Review: Interpret documents, complete transactions, and record results while meeting deadlines
Phone Support: Answer and route phone calls, relay messages, and provide non technical information as needed
Mail Handling: Process, scan, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and case materials
File Maintenance: Build, update, purge, and retrieve case records following retention and procedural guidelines

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time, seasonal employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- This is a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
Travel and overtime as needed.
Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Danville, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $18.83 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Graduation from high school; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Montour County. If no eligible candidates who live within Montour County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
