Account Manager — Commercial Landscape Management

Location: San Mateo, CA
Reports to: Branch Manager
Base Salary: $70,000–$73,000 annually
Additional Compensation: Commission opportunities with $15,000+ annual earning potential

Petalon Landscape Management is looking for an experienced, relationship-driven Account Manager to join our San Mateo team.

In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of commercial landscape clients throughout the Bay Area, build strong relationships with commercial property managers and HOA community managers, identify opportunities to enhance their properties, and partner with our operations team to deliver exceptional results.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building lasting client relationships, understands the commercial landscape industry, and wants the opportunity to directly impact both client satisfaction and company growth.

You’ll work closely with Field Supervisors, fellow Account Managers, and our Operations team while reporting directly to our San Mateo Branch Manager.

What You’ll DoClient & Account Management

Manage a portfolio of commercial landscape maintenance accounts and serve as the primary point of contact for clients
Build and maintain trusted relationships with commercial property managers, HOA managers, and other key stakeholders
Conduct regular property walks to assess landscape quality, identify opportunities, and proactively address client needs
Develop action plans and work orders based on property conditions and client priorities
Attend client meetings, property walkthroughs, and HOA association meetings
Help clients develop and manage annual landscape budgets
Communicate pricing adjustments and contract changes professionally and effectively
Support account collections and maintain strong client communication

Sales & Business Development

Identify opportunities for landscape enhancements and property improvements
Develop and present proposals that improve the appearance, functionality, and long-term value of client properties
Identify, estimate, and pursue new commercial landscape maintenance opportunities
Develop new client relationships through networking, prospecting, and targeted outreach
Support contract renewals and account retention
Participate in industry events, networking opportunities, and trade shows

Operations & Quality

Partner closely with Field Supervisors and Operations to ensure maintenance standards and client expectations are met
Coordinate maintenance work orders, enhancements, and landscape improvement projects from proposal through completion
Regularly evaluate property quality and communicate priorities to field teams
Follow up on completed work to ensure client satisfaction
Participate in company meetings, goal-setting, and team initiatives

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive relationship builder who can balance client service, sales, and operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications include:

Valid California Driver License and an insurable driving record
5+ years of customer service, account management, or related client-facing experience
2+ years of landscape industry sales experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Strong presentation, interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive client and company information with professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor’s degree preferred

$70,000–$73,000 annual base salary
