Senior Tax Manager

Senior Tax Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and advisory services across a diverse client portfolio. The role combines technical tax expertise, team leadership, and client relationship management to deliver accurate, timely, and strategic tax solutions. The ideal candidate will be a licensed CPA with deep experience in federal and state tax matters and familiarity with real estate, construction, professional services, and pass-through entities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage end-to-end tax compliance for corporate, partnership, S-corporation, and individual clients, ensuring accuracy and timely filing of federal, state, and local returns.
Provide strategic tax planning and consulting to minimize tax liabilities and support client business objectives, including entity selection, restructuring, and transaction planning.
Oversee and mentor a team of tax professionals: assign work, review deliverables, provide coaching, and support professional development.
Coordinate and manage complex tax projects, including M&A due diligence, consolidations, state and local tax issues, and multi-state filings.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships by proactively identifying tax risks and opportunities, communicating tax positions clearly, and delivering high-quality service.
Review technical tax research and prepare tax opinions, position papers, and supporting documentation for tax positions and audits.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (audit, advisory, and client accounting) to deliver integrated client solutions and ensure consistency across engagements.
Stay current on tax laws, regulations, and industry developments; lead training sessions and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
Assist with business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and supporting new engagement opportunities.

Qualifications

Active CPA license required.
Minimum 8+ years of progressive public accounting or industry tax experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
Demonstrated experience with tax compliance and planning for partnerships, S-corporations, and individuals.
Experience working with clients in real estate and construction industries; professional services experience strongly preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax law, including multi-state issues and credits.
Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of coaching and developing staff.
Advanced tax research and writing skills; ability to build defensible tax positions and support audit defense.
Proficiency with tax software (e.g., GoSystem, UltraTax, CCH Axcess) and Microsoft Excel; experience with tax provision and workflow tools a plus.
Outstanding client-facing communication and presentation skills; ability to explain complex tax matters in business terms.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
