Job Overview

Position Summary: Environmental Services Director

This position reports to the Director of Environmental Services. The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for managing a department of approximately 18 full-time equivalents (FTEs) and overseeing an annual operating budget of approximately $900k. The scope of responsibility includes a 42 Bed Women’s Hospital and multiple satellite locations, such as urgent care centers, medical offices, and business occupancy facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

Operational Oversight:
Direct management of environmental services across all locations, totaling approximately 300 thousand net cleanable square feet.
Oversight of a wide variety of flooring types, including VCT, LVT, Nora, terrazzo, and carpet, requiring a robust and sustainable floor care program.
Waste Management:
Management of all waste streams, including RMW, sharps, pharmaceuticals (Rx), hazardous pharmaceuticals (Haz Rx), and other hazardous wastes.
Must hold or obtain both DOT and RCRA Hazardous Waste (NYS-specific) certifications within 90 days of hire.
Subcontractor Coordination:
Support and monitor subcontracted services, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and quality standards.
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) liaison between the organization affiliates and contracted service providers.
Performance Focus Areas:
Regulatory compliance for cleanliness standards and processes.
Patient throughput and turnaround time (TAT) as a critical priority.
Enhancement of patient experience.
Development and implementation of employee engagement programs for a diverse workforce.

Direct Reports:

Two (2) Environmental Services Team Leaders

Qualifications:

High School degree or Equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred. Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification preferred
Experience with DOT and hazardous waste management is essential.
Regulatory standards allow up to 90 days post-hire to obtain required certifications.

Experience:

Minimum of five years of Environmental Services industry experience, and minimum two years’ experience in a management-level position in a healthcare setting is required.

Pay: $25.72 - $32.69 per hour
