Personnel & Asset Manager

Position Summary

The Personnel & Asset Manager is responsible for leading all human resources administration, personnel relations, regulatory compliance, and company asset management for two affiliated businesses: a fencing installation company and a lumberyard/hardware retail operation. This position serves as the primary administrator for employee lifecycle management, workplace compliance, company policies, training documentation, and organizational assets. Working closely with Ownership and department managers, this role ensures both companies maintain compliant, efficient, and professional personnel practices while safeguarding company-owned equipment and resources.

Reports To: Ownership/Executive Management

Position Responsibilities

Employee Onboarding & Offboarding

Manage recruitment, job postings, candidate interviews, and the complete employee lifecycle.
Coordinate onboarding and offboarding with department managers.
Prepare offer letters, new hire paperwork, employment documentation, and separation documents.
Administer employment policies consistently across both companies.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

Assist management with employee relations and conflict resolution.
Coordinate and document disciplinary actions, coaching, probationary and annual performance reviews, and terminations.
Conduct disciplinary actions when necessary while ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant processes.
Maintain complete documentation of employee performance and corrective actions.

Training & Development

Partner with department managers to develop, standardize, and document company training procedures.
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training manuals, and training records.
Track employee certifications and communicate renewal requirements.

Risk Management & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
Maintain compliance with Washington State L&I regulations and OSHA safety requirements.
Coordinate required safety training with department managers.
Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, incident reports, and workers' compensation records.
Monitor legislative changes and recommend policy updates.
Assist Ownership in maintaining company policies and employee handbooks.

Safety Administration

Coordinate company safety meetings, safety programs, and related documentation.
Maintain safety manuals and written safety programs.
Track required inspections, certifications, and compliance deadlines.
Serve as the administrative liaison for all safety-related matters.

Asset Management

Maintain inventories and documentation for all company-owned assets.
Manage assignment, tracking, maintenance records, and replacement schedules for:
Company vehicles and trucks
Power tools and equipment
Hand tools
Cell phones and mobile devices
Other company-issued property
Coordinate issuance and recovery of company assets during onboarding and offboarding.
Maintain organized maintenance records and asset documentation.

Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain confidential employee personnel files and organized personnel and compliance filing systems.
Create and update company forms, policies, and administrative procedures.
Assist Ownership with special projects and organizational initiatives.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee and company information.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in human resources, personnel management, office administration, or business operations.
Experience in construction, manufacturing, retail, or industrial environments.
Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training documentation.
Minimum five years of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
Valid Washington State Driver's License.
Strong English verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with OSHA and Washington State L&I compliance.
Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
Ability to interpret and apply employment regulations.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for extended periods while performing administrative work.
Occasional walking throughout office, retail, warehouse, and jobsite environments.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Starting at $30.00 per hour
Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
