Paraprofessional – Child & Family Services (1099 Independent Contractor)

The Patrick Group is seeking an experienced, organized, and self-motivated Paraprofessional to support children and families involved in child welfare and family preservation services throughout King, and Pierce County.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for professionals who can quickly integrate into our team with minimal training and confidently support families through resource coordination, documentation, service navigation, and administrative case support while working under the direction of licensed practitioners and case managers.
Successful candidates are highly organized, technologically proficient, comfortable working independently, and able to manage multiple families, deadlines, and documentation requirements with minimal supervision. Position Summary
This position provides direct support to children and families receiving child welfare and family support services.
Working under the supervision of the assigned Case Manager or Service Provider, you will assist with community resource coordination, documentation, client support, referrals, scheduling, and helping families successfully navigate services.
This role requires a professional who can independently manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail, organization, communication, and accountability.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing child welfare support, family support services, case management support, behavioral health support, resource coordination, or other related human services.
Experience should include assisting children and families with accessing and navigating community resources, including:
- Housing assistance
- Public benefits
- Healthcare resources
- Educational services
- Community-based support programs
Applicants should also demonstrate:
- Strong written documentation skills

- Ability to work independently while collaborating with supervisors and service providers
- Confidence using technology and electronic documentation systems
What You'll Do
- Provide direct support services to children and families in their homes and communities.
- Assist families with applications, benefits, forms, referrals, and service navigation.
- Help families access housing, financial assistance, healthcare, educational, and community-based support programs.
- Coordinate services with schools, healthcare providers, community agencies, and other professionals.
- Support implementation of case plans developed by the assigned practitioner.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and professional documentation.
- Track referrals, appointments, deadlines, and follow-up activities.
- Monitor client progress and communicate updates, concerns, and barriers to the supervising practitioner.
- Participate in supervision, case staffing, agency meetings, and required trainings.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
- Manage competing priorities while consistently meeting documentation standards and deadlines.
Technology Skills

Contractors should expect to work from:

- The Patrick Group's Federal Way office
Regular travel throughout the assigned service area is required.
Independent Contractor (1099)
This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position.
Contractors are responsible for maintaining:
- Washington State Business License
- Professional Liability Insurance
- Dedicated business-use computer
- Reliable high-speed internet
- Dedicated business-use cell phone
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification
- Ability to pass required background checks
- Compliance with all agency and contract requirements
Independent Contractor Information
As an Independent Contractor (1099):
- Work is referral-based and assigned according to agency needs, geographic service area, contractor availability, and client demand.
- While hours are not guaranteed, contractors who maintain flexibility, accept referrals, and consistently perform well can generally expect approximately 30–40 hours of work per week, depending on referral volume and business needs.
- Contractors are compensated only for approved, billable work performed.
- Approved case-specific travel time and mileage are reimbursed in accordance with the current Washington State reimbursement rate and agency policy.
- This position does not include employee benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, retirement benefits, or unemployment insurance.
- Independent contractors are responsible for maintaining required business licensing, insurance, certifications, and paying all applicable federal, state, and local self-employment taxes.
Compensation
$32.05–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability.
In addition to the hourly rate, contractors are compensated for approved case-specific travel time and mileage in accordance with agency policy.
