Job Summary:

SUMMARY

Performs a variety of clerical duties including typing, entering data, filing, copying and faxing documents. Greets, assists, interviews and/or directs the public, applicants and/or clients. Verifies various types of information for accuracy. Prepares and delivers outgoing mail and stamps, sorts, logs and distributes incoming mail.

Job Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned. Greets, assists, interviews and/or directs the public, applicants and/or clients; in some cases to determine eligibility for services. Verifies information on applications, records or forms for accuracy. Counts, weights, measures, sorts, files or stores material. Addresses envelopes or packages by typewriter, computer or hand, and stuffs envelopes by hand or with machine. Answers telephones, conveys messages, makes appointments, and runs errands. Orders supplies when needed. Prepares and delivers outgoing mail. Stamps, sorts, logs and distributes incoming mail. Performs typing and/or data entry. Photocopies and faxes documents. Compiles and generates reports. Performs a variety of clerical duties. Reconciles billing if requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional six (6) months experience is required

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, comprehend instructions, and write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to citizens, vendors, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software, database software, internet software, inventory software, order processing systems, payroll systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A driver's license is required. The applicant must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to type 30 words per minute may be required and if so, must be verified by successfully completing a typing test. Must have the ability to operate standard office machines. Must have good working knowledge of the basic principles of filing. Must have the ability to deal professionally and pleasantly with the public.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and /or move 25 pounds.
