Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a well‑rounded Mechanical Engineer to support industrial projects with a strong emphasis on field execution, construction support, and project engineering. This role is ideal for a hands‑on engineer who can work across multiple mechanical disciplines without being the primary design owner.

The Mechanical Engineer will assist with pumps, boilers, piping, structural steel, and process equipment, supporting activities from design review through checkout and startup. This is a project engineer–style role, requiring strong coordination skills and the ability to translate engineering intent into executable work for contractors.

Key Responsibilities

Support mechanical systems across industrial projects, including:
Pumps and rotating equipment
Boilers and thermal systems
Process equipment
Piping systems and layouts
Structural steel interfaces
Review, interpret, and understand mechanical designs and drawings
Provide technical clarification and direction to contractors in the field
Support construction supervision, including:
Field walkdowns
Installation verification
Issue resolution and troubleshooting
Assist with equipment checkout, commissioning, and startup activities
Support modification and brownfield work rather than full greenfield design
Coordinate between design teams, contractors, and project stakeholders
Supply markups, redlines, and field feedback back to designers
Act as a mechanical generalist, filling gaps as project needs evolve

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
Experience supporting industrial or process environments
Ability to work effectively in field and construction settings
Strong communication skills and the ability to interface with contractors
Practical, problem‑solving mindset with flexibility to take on varied tasks

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

Experience in industries such as:
Energy
Oil & Gas
Petrochemical
Mining
Heavy industrial or manufacturing
Familiarity with common mechanical design tools, such as:
AutoCAD (preferred)
Creo
Plant 3D
Other 2D drafting tools
(Advanced 3D modeling expertise is not required)
Prior experience in:
Project engineering roles
Field engineering
Construction or commissioning support
Exposure to startup and commissioning activities for mechanical systems

Pay: $65.00 - $75.00 per hour
