Quality & Development Specialist

SB America Inc. | Montgomery, Alabama | Full-Time | Entry Level

ABOUT SB AMERICA

SB America Inc. is the U.S. manufacturing subsidiary of Sambo Motors Co., Ltd., a global automotive components maker operating in seven countries. From our Montgomery, Alabama plant we supply Quarter Glass assemblies, Fuel Filler Necks, High-Voltage Busbars, and Spoilers to Hyundai (HMMA, HMGMA), Kia Georgia, and Mobis. We are growing our engineering team to support new vehicle programs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an entry-level position open to recent graduates and candidates with less than three years of experience. You will learn the full product lifecycle — new component development, mass production launch, and customer quality assurance — with hands-on training and mentorship from senior engineers and our Korean headquarters. Strong performers grow quickly into broad ownership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Development

Support development schedules for new components from design through mass production launch.
Review engineering drawings, GD&T, and Customer Specific Requirements (CSR); assist with manufacturability assessment.
Help coordinate design changes among the Korean R&D team, the U.S. plant, and customers.

Launch & Process Quality

Assist with production line setup, Control Plans, SOPs, and inspection standards.
Collect and analyze SPC data (Cpk/Ppk) for critical quality characteristics.
Support 4M change management and clean-point controls, including sorting and special inspection.

Customer Quality

Support technical and quality communication with North American OEM and Tier-1 customers.
Help prepare PPAP packages (FMEA, MSA, capability studies) for mass production approval.
Participate in 8D / 5-Why root cause analysis, containment, and IATF 16949 audit response.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical/Electronic, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
New graduates welcome; up to 3 years of experience in automotive engineering or quality.
Basic understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
Willingness to work on the production floor and travel within the U.S. for customer support.

Preferred

Coursework, internship, or work exposure to automotive quality core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC).
Korean and English business communication ability, for coordination with our Korean headquarters.
Familiarity with Hyundai, Kia, or Mobis programs.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship available for qualified candidates.
On-site in Montgomery, Alabama — not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
