Full Job Description

Position: Tool & Die Leader

Position Type: Direct Hire

Location: Belleville, MI

Shift: 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

Compensation: $35/hour + $0.75/hour 2nd shift premium

Position Overview of the Tool & Die Leader:

Seeking a hands-on Tool & Die Leader to support and coordinate daily tool room operations in a stamping manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for prioritizing and assigning work, performing and overseeing extensive die maintenance and repair, and ensuring uptime of stamping dies, fixtures, and gauges. The position requires strong expertise in press room troubleshooting, tool room machining practices, and engineering changes across all types of dies, along with the ability to diagnose problems, determine corrective actions, and support production deadlines in a high-volume environment. This is a working leadership role that performs journeyman-level Tool & Die work while guiding and supporting other associates within the department.

Position Responsibilities of the Tool & Die Leader:

· Prioritize and assign workload for team.

· Directs training of workers to improve department performance.

· Maintain and upgrade fixtures and gauges.

· Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.

· Perform extensive die maintenance such as rebuilding die sections, retiming pads and forms and engineering changes on all types of dies.

· Make decisions and judgments about proper course of action for repair and maintenance.

· Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures to recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part.

· Determine specifications for inspection of work, using full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform inspection before, during and after machining

Position Requirements of the Tool & Die Leader:

· High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency is required. Journeyman Tool makers Card or 6 years experience

· Demonstrates good short and long term decision making in these areas:

o Press room troubleshooting

o Diagnosis of problem and courses of action

o Tool room repair and maintenance work

o Tool Room machining practices

o Program timing, meeting deadlines

o Perishable detail inventories.

· Provide instruction and guidance in the use of tool room equipment.

· Performs activities of Journeyman and other associates in department.

· Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).

· Promotes teamwork and shows a willingness to work with other departments.

· Punctual and regular attendance is required.

· Able and willing to work any shift assigned.

· Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties.

· Keeps work areas clean and orderly.

· Participates in continuous improvement activities.

· Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.
