Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Caregiver provides mentorship and support through consistent communication, training, development, and engagement to Mentee care staff. Lead Caregivers will share caregiving knowledge, resources, and experiences with their less experienced peers, guiding mentees in their new caregiving role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Judgement/Decision Making:

Ensures the quality of client care and service by using specialized knowledge and judgment to assure client care standards comply with client plan of care and Agency policies
Demonstrates consistent logic, rationality and objectivity in decision-making
Achieves balance between quick decisiveness and slower, more thorough approaches
Does not let personal issues get in the way of professional responsibilities

Likability:

Creates positive first impressions and environments through appropriate body language, eye contact, posture, voice qualities, and attire
Builds and maintains trusting relationships with care staff and clients
Warm, sensitive, compassionate, and puts care staff and clients at ease
Professional and kind in demeanor and approach

Coaching/Training:

Evaluate and supervise Mentees for conformity with professional standards of in-home care, in accordance with state specific home care requirements
Actively engages in training and new hire orientation in order to demonstrate professional home care standards
Provides in-field orientation and in-services for Mentees during their first 90 days
Provides guidance, recommendations, and suggestions to mentees for problem solving
Provides feedback to Management to assist with Mentee performance

Excellence Standards:

Performs or supervises care management activities for individual clients, including but not limited to in-home document reviews, coaching and development and identifying the need to update the care plan or tasks sheet
Maintains compliance to all Agency care and administrative policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Reviews client/caregiver notes to ensure compliance and quality in documentation and care
Manages company client in-home satisfaction survey programs by promoting participation, reviewing results and making recommendations to the management team on improving the quality of care
Documents care issues and/or events per office policy

Ambition:

Maintains a punctual and dependable work record
Requires minimal supervision and often finds extra work without direction
Acts as a role model, setting positive examples at all times

Team Player:

Promotes Right at Home to the community, participating in community programs with other professionals when necessary and forming alliances that are most beneficial to the agency
Effectively interacts with others to accomplish tasks
Assists with scheduling and client coverage when team members call out

Listening:

“Tunes in” and listens to the opinions, feelings and needs of care staff and clients
Understands the impact of one’s behavior on others

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Represents Right at Home before the public as required by the supervisor
Performs other duties assigned by the supervisor

EDUCATION / SKILLS / ABILITIES / AVAILABILITY

High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate preferred
Home care experience required
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Meets the requirements for employees providing direct patient care
Read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job
Computer experience with data entry, word processing and Microsoft Windows® based software preferred
Has a valid driver’s license and use of an insured automobile for work or access to adequate transportation

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Regular visits to client’s home in residential or care facility setting
May occasionally work in an office setting

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
