Full Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee back-of-house operations in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and team management. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who thrives under pressure, maintains high food quality standards, and ensures efficient, safe, and profitable kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:Kitchen Operations:

Supervise and coordinate all kitchen activities and staff during service hours.
Ensure smooth and efficient food preparation and service for high-volume output.
Maintain kitchen workflow, inventory, and production schedules.
Monitor and manage prep levels, batch cooking, and station readiness.

Staff Management:

Hire, train, schedule, and supervise BOH staff, including line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers.
Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
Foster a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture with a focus on productivity and professionalism.

Food Quality & Safety:

Ensure all food is prepared according to recipes, portioning, presentation, and quality standards.
Maintain strict compliance with health, sanitation, and food safety standards (HACCP, ServSafe, etc.).
Conduct regular line checks and kitchen inspections.

Inventory & Cost Control:

Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory of food and kitchen supplies.
Monitor food and labor costs to meet budgetary goals.
Reduce waste and improve efficiency through effective portion control and prep planning.

Equipment & Maintenance:

Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment and facilities.
Schedule repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a kitchen leadership role, preferably in a high-volume restaurant.
Strong culinary knowledge and experience in multiple cooking techniques.
Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of inventory, cost control, and food safety regulations.
ServSafe or equivalent certification preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours), bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a hot environment.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
