Full Job Description

Position Summary: Therapists work with individuals, groups and families to improve mental health and overall functioning in everyday activities.

Performance Standards

1. Implement the decisions of your immediate supervisor or managers within your chain of command.

2. Provide a positive role model for the clients at all times through appearance, attitude, and behavior.

3. Exhibit sensitivity to the clients’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

4. Attend all in-services, General Staff Meetings, and meetings called by their supervisor.

5. Work harmoniously and effectively with co-workers.

6. Accomplish objectives and consistently produce satisfactory work.

7. Is faithful in reporting to work, staying on the job, and helping to meet institutional emergencies.

8. Communicate effectively interdepartmentally and with other therapists, both verbally and in writing.

9. Comply with department guidelines, the Organization and Personnel Guidelines and all expectations set by Gibault’s administration.

10. Demonstrate a strong sense of compassion and commitment to helping people

11. Complete biopsychosocial assessments and identify mental health diagnoses in accordance with the DSM-5-5-TR.

12. Provide individual, group and family therapy to assigned clients.

13. Through the therapeutic relationship, help clients identify treatment issues, define goals, plan action and gain insight. Develop an individualized treatment plan in conjunction with the client and their family.

14. Collaborate with all members of the treatment team to assist clients in making progress toward goals.

15. Make referrals to other support services when in best interest of client of their family.

16. Conduct risk assessments, determine the measures that need to be taken to preserve the client’s safety, and communicate those measures to all staff involved in the treatment of the child.

17. Serve as on-call therapist during assigned times.

18. Provide education/trainings to other job positions within the agency.

19. Work toward obtaining licensure with the goal of meeting Indiana license requirements of 3000 hours of supervised practice by 3rd year post-graduation from Master’s counseling program and applying to sit for the licensure exam between year 3 and 4 post-graduation.

20. Maintain licensure by acquiring at least 20 hours of continuing education every year and renewing license by March 31 of every even numbered year.

21. Complete necessary documentation and adhere to standards set forth by Gibault with regard to timeliness of documentation. This includes clinical progress notes, 5 Day Reviews, treatment plans and treatment plan reviews, TRT notes, mandatory assessments (clinical, CANS, EON, risk), and discharge summaries.

22. Schedule the 5 Day Review with representatives of the treatment team including the psychologist, psychiatrist, medical staff, residential supervisor, and education representative in order to review diagnosis and initiate development of the treatment plan.

23. Attend Treatment Review Team meetings to address areas of progress and need.

24. Provide clinical and other information to the psychiatrist to assist in monitoring the effects of psychotropic medication for assigned clients.

25. Take regular inventory of own emotional well-being. Develop and adhere to a self-care plan to promote wellness and prevent burnout.

26. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Possession of a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
Submit to and pass all required background checks.
