About the Role:

The Child Care Services Fraud Investigator plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and proper use of child care assistance programs across the United States. This position involves conducting thorough investigations into suspected fraudulent activities related to child care services, including false claims, misrepresentation, and misuse of funds. The investigator will gather and analyze evidence, interview involved parties, and collaborate with other agencies to build strong cases for enforcement or legal action. By identifying and preventing fraud, this role helps protect public resources and ensures that child care services are available to eligible families in need. Ultimately, the investigator contributes to maintaining public trust in child care assistance programs and promoting fairness and accountability.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
At least two years of experience in fraud investigation, compliance, or a related area.
Strong understanding of investigative techniques, evidence collection, and interviewing methods.
Familiarity with child care assistance programs and relevant federal and state regulations.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with government agencies or social service programs.
Certification in fraud examination (e.g., Certified Fraud Examiner - CFE) or related credentials.
Proficiency in data analysis software and investigative case management systems.
Knowledge of legal procedures related to administrative hearings and criminal prosecutions.
Strong communication skills for effectively liaising with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Conduct detailed investigations into allegations of fraud within child care services programs, including reviewing documentation and financial records.
Interview claimants, providers, witnesses, and other relevant individuals to collect accurate information and clarify discrepancies.
Collaborate with law enforcement, legal teams, and regulatory agencies to support prosecution or administrative actions when fraud is confirmed.
Prepare comprehensive investigative reports that clearly document findings, evidence, and recommendations for further action.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing child care assistance programs to ensure compliance during investigations.

The required skills enable the investigator to meticulously analyze complex information and identify inconsistencies that may indicate fraudulent activity. Strong interviewing and interpersonal skills are essential for obtaining accurate information from various parties while maintaining professionalism and sensitivity.
