We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant or CPA with a minimum of five years of solid senior‑level accounting experience to join our finance team. CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Prepare and review detailed financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes using advanced accounting software such as WorkDay, Clearwater, Sage, or MS Dynamics
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and analyze accounts receivable and payable to maintain precise financial records
- Oversee accounts reconciliation processes, including bank reconciliations and intercompany transactions, ensuring compliance with internal controls
- Complying with all company, local, state, federal and CIMA accounting and financial regulations (surplus lines, sales & use tax, 1099s, etc.)
- Complying with all applicable companies, local, state, and federal accounting, and financial regulations
- Financial statement reporting for various reinsurance captives by 45 days from each quarter end
- Complex and large volume of reconciliations (bank accounts, insurance program bordereaux by carrier and program year, security deposits, fixed assets, etc.)
- Compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial data to management and client board and committee meetings (some travel may be needed to attend such meetings throughout the year)
- Lead complex financial analysis related to cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Ensure regulatory reporting requirements are met accurately and timely, including tax filings and other statutory obligations
- Mentor junior accountants by providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as all company, local, state, federal and CIMA accounting and financial regulations (surplus lines, sales & use tax, 1099s, etc.)
- Support internal audits and external audits by preparing documentation related to audit inquiries and audit trail reviews
- Highly experienced with processes using software tools like QuickBooks, Power BI, and other account analysis tools
- Very strong Microsoft Excel experience needed for data analysis
REINSURANCE ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE WOULD BE A BONUS:
- Collateral and Dividend calculations for captive clients
- Billings and collections for insurance deductibles and reinsurance recoveries
- Reconciliation of Rising Medical invoice and cost containment
- Reconciliation of loss reimbursements from carriers to loss runs
REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in corporate or public accounting environments with a focus on financial reporting and technical accounting
- Extensive experience working with financial software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, MS Dynamics or similar platforms; proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential
- Strong understanding of GAAP standards along with experience in financial statement preparation and interpretation
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, journal entries, and general ledger management with accuracy
- Knowledge of auditing procedures, regulatory reporting requirements, payroll processing, and tax experience is highly desirable
- Excellent analytical skills combined with a solid foundation in financial concepts like accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting and financial management
- Ability to mentor team members effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The target base salary range for this position is $105k - $135k annually. The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
