Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and setting up manual machining equipment to produce precision metal components in accordance with detailed blueprints and technical specifications. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for craftsmanship to contribute to high-quality production processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in manual machining techniques, blueprint interpretation, and measurement accuracy, supporting our commitment to manufacturing excellence.

Responsibilities

Operate manual machining tools such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines to produce precise metal parts
Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications
Set up and calibrate machines, including bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement instruments
Perform machine setup procedures, including tool selection, M-code programming, and adjustments for optimal performance
Conduct quality inspections using measurement tools to ensure parts meet specified tolerances and standards
Utilize hand tools and power tools for assembly, finishing, and minor modifications of machined components
Maintain a clean and organized work environment adhering to safety standards and lean manufacturing principles
Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling requirements and process improvements
Support CNC programming efforts by providing insights into manual machining processes when necessary
Assist in troubleshooting machine issues promptly to minimize downtime

Experience

Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or in a similar precision machining role
Strong knowledge of machining tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and associated equipment
Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting complex technical drawings
Familiarity with CNC programming concepts such as G-code and M-code is advantageous but not mandatory
Experience with CAD software like SolidWorks or similar programs for part verification is preferred
Skilled in using measurement instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements, tolerances, and machine setup
Understanding of GD&T principles for ensuring component quality
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including metal machining, tooling selection, and process optimization
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of precision
