Part-Time Operations and Financial Associate

Location: Traverse City, MI (hybrid — remote with a monthly in-person meeting)

Hours: ~8–15 hours/week, flexible schedule

Employment Type: Part-time employee

About the Role

North Point is a boutique start-up consulting firm based in Traverse City, MI, looking for a highly organized, self-directed professional to manage our financial operations, business documentation, and process development. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives working independently, enjoys creating order out of ambiguity, and wants a flexible, part-time role with a small, growing firm.

The cornerstone of monthly financial operations — keeping our books accurate, our documentation organized, and our processes clearly defined.

The engine for business solutions — collaborating with company leadership to develop sustainable and scalable solutions to the challenges facing a growing firm.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping and Invoicing

Prepare monthly client invoices and manage (MS Word, MS Excel, and Adobe)
Reconcile expenses in QuickBooks
Classify revenue and expenses accurately and consistently
Conduct basic financial analysis and produce monthly financial reports
Execute monthly payroll

Business Operations and Development

Maintain and organize business documentation and our digital document repository
Document core business processes and workflows for internal reference
Support the development of new, scalable processes and systems as the business grows

What We're Looking For

Exceptionally organized, with strong attention to detail
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Comfortable working independently with little to no supervision
Excels in a fast-paced, evolving environment where processes need to be defined, designed, and implemented
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data organization, etc.)
Able to attend in-person meetings once per month in Traverse City
Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business, accounting, or related field
