Full Job Description

Position Overview:

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting the Pastor with clerical and administrative duties as well as coordinating tasks with the board and congregation as directed by the Pastor.
This is a part-time, year-round position, requiring an average of 8 - 10 hours of work per week.
The administrative assistant is expected to work in the church office for 4 - 6 hours per week. The days and times of in-office hours will be determined in conjunction with the Pastor, the Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC), and the administrative assistant. Some of the job duties of the administrative assistant may be performed remotely, i.e. checking the church answering machine, updating the answering machine message to reflect special services and events at the church, preparing reports, and creating the powerpoint slide show for worship each week. Remote tasks will be identified by the pastor and the administrative assistant.

Education and Experience:

The Administrative Assistant must possess a kind and compassionate attitude and a positive approach to working with the Pastor, leaders and other members of the church, guests and visitors, and the general public. Visitors to the church will be greeted in a pleasant, businesslike manner.
This position requires strong organizational skills and experience handling a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
Advanced computer literacy using a variety of applications including Google Docs and Microsoft Word, Google Drive, MS Excel, Powerpoint, Google mail, and Canva. Ability to quickly learn new applications as the Church grows.
Familiarity with website development applications or a willingness to learn appropriate applications in order to maintain and update the Church website on a regular basis.
Strong administrative and organizational skills characterized by the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while working independently.
Excellent verbal, written, and email communication skills.

Supervision:

The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Pastor.
A member of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee will be appointed to serve as Staff Liaison to the Administrative Assistant. The staff liaison will work in conjunction with the Pastor to support the Administrative Assistant in the performance of their duties. The staff liaison and the Pastor will promptly address any issues in the work performance of the Administrative Assistant and provide the training and/or direction necessary to resolve the issues.
The Administrative Assistant may occasionally be asked to work more than 10 hours per week. The Pastor and Administrative Assistant will collaborate to identify a work schedule that meets the needs of the church while recognizing the needs of the Administrative Assistant.
The list of duties and tasks in this position description is not intended to be all inclusive. Additional tasks and responsibilities may be required based on the needs of the Pastor, the board, and the church as a whole.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
