Job Description:
A Confidential Company in Archdale, NC is seeking an experienced CNC Plasma Table Operator to join its fabrication team. This is a hands on manufacturing position responsible for operating CNC plasma cutting equipment to produce accurate, quality metal parts according to production requirements.
This position requires previous experience with machine operation, metal fabrication, CNC plasma cutting, burn tables, laser cutting equipment, or similar industrial cutting machinery. Candidates must be comfortable working independently around production equipment and maintaining consistent quality and productivity standards.
The Plasma Table Operator will load CNC cutting programs provided by the programmer, verify material type and thickness, set up the equipment for each job, monitor cutting performance, inspect finished parts, change consumables, and perform routine machine cleaning and maintenance.
This position also requires forklift operation to move raw material, sheet and plate material, and finished parts throughout the fabrication area.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Read job travelers and verify the correct program, material, dimensions, and job requirements before beginning production
- Load CNC cutting programs provided by the programmer and properly set up the plasma or burn table for each job
- Verify sheet and plate material type and thickness before cutting
- Operate CNC plasma cutting equipment safely and efficiently
- Monitor cutting performance, part quality, and production progress throughout each job
- Adjust applicable machine settings to maintain proper cut quality
- Clean lenses, align nozzles, and change consumables when required
- Inspect completed parts for dimensional accuracy, cut quality, and visible defects
- Immediately communicate quality concerns or equipment problems to the Foreman or Supervisor
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance
- Operate a forklift to safely move, position, load, and remove raw materials and finished parts
- Maintain an organized and safe fabrication area
- Follow required PPE, production, quality, and safety procedures
- Assist with other fabrication equipment or production areas when required
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant machine operation, metal fabrication, or equivalent industrial manufacturing experience
- Previous CNC plasma table, burn table, laser cutting, CNC cutting, or similar fabrication equipment experience is strongly preferred
- Forklift operating experience is required
- Current forklift certification is preferred
- Must be able to read and understand basic blueprints, work orders, job travelers, and production instructions
- Must be able to accurately read a tape measure to 1/8, 1/16, and 1/32 inch
- Must understand basic shop math
- Must be able to convert feet to inches
- Must be able to convert fractions to decimals
- Must have experience using common fabrication measuring tools including tape measures, protractors, and calipers
- Must be able to inspect completed parts and recognize visible quality defects
- Must be capable of independently operating production equipment with minimal supervision
- Experience with additional fabrication equipment such as press brakes, drills, saws, or related machinery is preferred
- Must have dependable attendance and punctuality
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
- Must maintain a strong safety and quality focused attitude
IMPORTANT: Only candidates with relevant machine operation, CNC cutting, plasma table, burn table, laser cutting, or metal fabrication experience will be considered. This is NOT a training opportunity. No entry level candidates without applicable industrial machine operation or fabrication experience will be considered.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk frequently throughout the shift
- Ability to regularly reach, bend, and handle materials
- Ability to lift and handle materials weighing approximately 35 pounds as needed
- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing and fabrication environment
- Must be comfortable with exposure to dust, loud noise, heat, and cold
- Must wear required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety toe footwear, and other assigned protective equipment
