Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support to the production department in order to implement process improvements (cost reduction, quality improvement, reduce downtime, improve tooling & equipment, etc.).
Technical Skill Requirements:
1. AS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical degree or equivalent professional experience
2. 2-4 years experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in an automotive components industry
3. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office)
4. Excellent knowledge of tooling
5. Excellent mechanical abilities
6. Knowledge of robotics,injection machines, vacuum formers and laser cutting robotic cells
7. Forklift license
8. Excellent troubleshooting skills
9. Excellent documentation skills
10. Excellent mathematical aptitude and analytical thinking
11. Knowledge of Toyota Production System principles

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide Engineering support to Production Department
a. Troubleshooting and repair of equipment, tooling, materials and processing issues
b. Continuous improvement for Production processes and quality
c. Obtain quotes from vendors for tooling and equipment
d. Conduct job set-up and start-up
e. Develop work cells, programming and tooling for various parts
f. Analyze scrap and labor and recommend countermeasures
g. Update Production documentation, including work instructions
h. Conduct mold changeovers
i. Stock and repair spare parts
j. Work on cost savings initiatives
k. Administer training
I. Generate reports (scrap, capacity, etc.)
m. Assure safety procedures followed
2. Attend meetings, as required
a. Morning passdown meetings
Other Duties and Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities for the following positions: Senior Assistant Manager of Injection and Assistant Manager of Injection. Duties include planning work for subordinates, observing performance, appraising, developing, coaching and holding subordinates accountable for results.

Environment and Conditions
The incumbent spends approximately up to 15% of his/her time developing and maintaining business contacts within the organization and up to 15% of his/her time with external contacts. The purpose of these contacts is to discuss production issues, tooling, machines and processes, to request quotes, to discuss part costs, to discuss quality issues, to conduct on-line trials, to order tooling and equipment and to discuss vendor products.
This position works in an open office environment and on the production floor. Exposure to weather elements is not likely. Incumbents are not likely to drive a vehicle while performing job responsibilities. Incumbents spend approximately 20% sitting, 45% standing and 35% walking in the course of this position and are unlikely to lift anything greater than 80 pounds. Incumbents will use the following office machines while performing job duties: computer, printer, copier, fax, telephone, hand tools, drill, mill, saw, digital camera, calculator, and the equipment on the plant floor.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
