Full Job Description

Helps coordinate activities of dining room to provide the highest quality of service to Vestavia Country Club's members and guests; in accordance with established Vestavia Country Club and departmental policies and procedures.

JOB DUTIES:

Receives and greets members and guests.

Suggests and describes daily specials, available appetizers, entrees, desserts, alcoholic beverages and wines to members and guests.

Assures that pre-opening cleaning tasks are assigned and completed as required.

Inspects dining room serving stations for neatness and cleanliness, and requisitions table linens and other dining room supplies for tables and serving stations.

May schedule work hours and keep time records of dining room workers.

Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.

Resolves member and guest complaints.

Assures that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.

Assures that revenue control procedures are continually followed.

Provides layout and design recommendations to applicable managers.

Suggests dining room decorations for special themes.

Manages the guest reservation system and/or a waiting list if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic skills in reading and writing.
Minimum one-year experience as server in a banquet setting preferred.
Excellent verbal and communication skills, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills.
A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating professionally and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organization.
Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory
Interact professionally with other employees, members and guests and work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
Perform quality work within deadlines.
Must be available for emergency and scheduled work requirements on evenings, weekends, or holidays
Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary.
Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 30 lbs.
Requires long periods of time standing, lifting, carrying trays, frequent bending and reaching.
Essential hand/eye coordination.
Frequent exposure to kitchen cooking smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity, extreme cold.
Communicates with grill cooks and other servers.
Substantial repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts from knives, slipping, tripping falls and burns.
Frequent washing of hands will require contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items.

Physical Requirements

Must be available for emergency and scheduled work requirements on evenings, weekends or holidays
Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary.
Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 25 lbs. occasionally
