Full Job Description

Job Title: Pharmacist

Specialty: Outpatient/Ambulatory Care & Community Health Pharmacy

Place of Work (City/State): Tsaile, Arizona (Navajo Nation, Navajo Area IHS)

Site: Tsaile Health Center (Chinle Service Unit)

Location: PO Box C21, Navajo Route 64 & 12, Tsaile, AZ 86556

Duration: 1 year contract with possibility of 2 more years

Shift Schedule: 8 hours/day

Credentialing/Onboarding Time: 6 8 weeks

License: Current, valid, unrestricted pharmacist license in any state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Education: Pharmacy degree (Doctor of Pharmacy or equivalent); board certification required.

Experience Needed: Minimum 36 months (3 years) of pharmacist experience, including at least 12 months in the specialty required for the position

Special Skills Needed:

Proficiency with IHS Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
Basic computer/IT skills
English language proficiency (read/write/speak) sufficient for patient and staff communication
Demonstrated cultural awareness/sensitivity toward American Indian and Alaska Native (Navajo) practices
Ability to work in a rural, resource-limited setting

Responsibilities:

Provide outpatient and community health pharmacy services in accordance with IHS, Joint Commission, and CMS standards
Document all patient care activities completely, accurately, and timely in the EHR
Comply with patient safety, infection control, and facility safety reporting requirements
Maintain required licensure, certifications, and credentialing throughout performance
Participate in departmental peer review per Joint Commission standards
Maintain professional conduct and ensure continuity of patient care (including coverage during absences)
Safeguard PHI in compliance with HIPAA, the Privacy Act, and the Business Associate Agreement
Wear Government-issued ID badge at all times while performing services
