About the Position
This is a hands-on quality control position, not strictly a Quality Management System or ISO documentation role.
We need someone who understands how to inspect a physical part.
The right candidate should already be comfortable using precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, ring gauges, plug gauges, and optical/video measurement systems. You should be able to read a customer drawing, understand dimensions and tolerances, inspect the actual product, review the accompanying certifications, and determine whether the product meets requirements.
Fastener experience is preferred but not required. We understand that our industry has specialized products, specifications, materials, finishes, and terminology. We can teach those things to the right person.
What we need you to bring is a solid foundation in mechanical inspection, measurement, blueprint reading, documentation, and problem solving.
This position also includes a significant documentation component. Inspection reports, material certifications, customer documentation, material disclosures, supplier corrective actions, and other quality records must be accurate, organized, and completed on time.
Key ResponsibilitiesHands-On Inspection & Quality Control
- Perform and oversee incoming inspection of fasteners, metal components, and related products.
- Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, ring gauges, plug gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
- Perform more detailed dimensional inspections using our KEYENCE measurement systems and other inspection equipment.
- Read and interpret customer drawings, blueprints, specifications, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Verify product dimensions, thread requirements, materials, finishes/coatings, and other specified characteristics.
- Compare physical product and supplier certifications against customer drawings, purchase requirements, and applicable specifications.
- Determine whether incoming material meets requirements and approve acceptable product for release to inventory.
- Identify, document, segregate, and escalate nonconforming product.
Quality Documentation
- Accurately record inspection measurements and pass/fail results.
- Maintain organized and traceable inspection records.
- Review material certifications, test reports, coating/plating certifications, and other supplier documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Scan, file, and maintain quality and inspection records within company systems.
- Complete and maintain customer-required quality documentation and material disclosures.
- Help ensure quality records are complete, accurate, and readily available when required by customers or management.
Supplier & Customer Quality
- Investigate product discrepancies and nonconformances.
- Communicate quality problems clearly to management, suppliers, and manufacturers.
- Work directly with suppliers to resolve rejected or nonconforming material.
- Initiate and follow corrective actions through resolution.
- Participate in root-cause investigations and help prevent recurring quality problems.
- Investigate customer quality concerns and returns.
- Work with purchasing, sales, warehouse personnel, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues.
- Follow quality problems from initial discovery through final resolution rather than simply identifying the problem and passing it along.
What We're Looking ForRequired
- Previous experience in mechanical inspection, manufacturing quality control, or a similar hands-on quality role.
- Working knowledge of precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, ring gauges, plug gauges, or similar inspection tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Understanding of dimensions, tolerances, and basic inspection methods.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Comfortable working with computers, spreadsheets, electronic records, and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to investigate discrepancies rather than simply record them.
- Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, suppliers, manufacturers, and customers.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of quality issues from beginning to end.
Preferred
- 3+ years of experience in quality inspection or quality control.
- Experience inspecting fasteners, machined components, metal parts, or other manufactured products.
- Experience with thread inspection and ring/plug gauges.
- Experience with KEYENCE, Micro-Vu, optical, vision, or other automated dimensional measurement systems.
- Experience reviewing material certifications, plating/coating certifications, test reports, or similar manufacturing documentation.
- Experience with corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and supplier quality issues.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality systems.
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or other relevant quality certification.
Previous fastener experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to teach our products and industry to a candidate who already has a strong mechanical inspection foundation.
The Person Who Will Be Successful in This Role
We're looking for someone who is naturally detail-oriented and wants to know why something doesn't match—not just mark a box saying that it failed.
You should be comfortable moving between hands-on inspection and documentation. On any given day, that may mean measuring a part, interpreting a customer drawing, reviewing a material certification, completing a customer material disclosure, contacting a supplier about a discrepancy, or helping investigate a customer quality concern.
This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys working with actual parts and solving actual quality problems, while also understanding that good documentation and traceability are essential parts of quality control.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree in Quality Control, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant hands-on experience is highly valued.
Location Requirements
This position is located at our Tucson, Arizona facility and requires in-person work.
Candidates must be able to commute to Tucson, AZ 85743 or relocate prior to starting employment.
