Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Civil Field Engineer specializing in GPS Layout! In this vital role, you will lead the on-site execution of land surveying and construction staking activities, utilizing advanced GPS technology and precise data collection methods. Your expertise will ensure that project layouts are accurate, efficient, and aligned with engineering specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse infrastructure projects, applying cutting-edge surveying techniques to shape the built environment. Your energetic approach and technical skills will drive project success from initial layout to completion.

Duties

Perform GPS surveying and land surveying tasks to establish accurate project benchmarks and control points using state-of-the-art equipment such as 3D scanners, LiDAR, and GPS systems
Conduct topographic mapping and data collection to support design development and construction planning
Utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, Carlson, ArcGIS, and GIS software for drafting schematics, creating detailed layouts, and managing mapping data
Execute construction staking by translating engineering drawings into real-world locations with precision using CAD tools and survey data
Manage field teams responsible for data collection, land surveying, and layout activities to ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards
Analyze survey data through trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and math principles to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to review schematics, drawings, and construction plans ensuring alignment with field conditions

Experience

Proven experience in land surveying, GPS surveying, construction staking, or related civil engineering roles with a focus on GPS layout projects
Strong knowledge of topographic mapping techniques, GIS applications, and data analysis skills for interpreting survey results
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, Carlson, and ArcGIS for drafting and managing survey data
Familiarity with 3D scanning technologies like LiDAR and 3D scanners for detailed terrain modeling
Ability to manage mapping or surveying teams effectively while maintaining safety standards on-site
Solid understanding of schematics, construction plans, and technical drawings related to civil infrastructure projects
Construction experience that includes working with construction sites, understanding construction sequencing, and performing construction staking
Excellent math skills including trigonometry, algebra, geometry necessary for precise measurements and calculations in the field
