Full Job Description

Job Title: Tax Preparer

Description:

The tax preparer is responsible for preparing tax returns, learning on the job, using technical skills, and working as part of a team with minimal supervision. This person will prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns; prepare quarterly estimated income tax payments; perform miscellaneous bookkeeping functions including general accounting and adjusting journal entries; and carry out various tax research and consulting projects as needed.

The ideal candidate is someone who works well with others, can take direction as needed, can work on their own as needed, is receptive to feedback, effective at managing their workflow, and produces quality work with client satisfaction in mind. We offer flexible hours, opportunities for advancement, and merit-based bonuses. After a probation period of in-office work for 6 months, we offer the potential to work remotely on a hybrid schedule (fully remote work is not available).

Qualifications:

Must have completed at least 2 full tax seasons with an accounting firm
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experiences
Must have experience with preparation of corporate, partnership, trust, and individual tax returns
Able and willing to quickly pick up skills with tax and accounting software. Experience with Lacerte a plus. Experience with Quickbooks a plus
Strong accounting and analytical skills. Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task
Excellent verbal and written communications skills for providing quality service to clients and working well with team members
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and Internet Explorer/Chrome/Firefox
CPA or Enrolled Agent preferred

Pay:

Depends on experience.

Note to candidates:

A test of individual and corporate tax preparation ability may be administered during the interview process. References will be checked.

Please include resume when responding and let us know if you are available seasonally (40 to 50 hours during tax season, zero hours during the off season) or part-time (minimum 40 to 50 hours during tax season, maximum 20 hours during the off season). Thank you.
