The Edge is a 501c3, non-profit “Business as Ministry” of Destiny Church of the Christian &
Missionary Alliance. We operate a 54,000 square feet facility that offers programs in sports and the arts, as well as partnering with organizations ranging from recreational groups to professional teams for rental space and events. The facility also serves as the home of Destiny Church for its worship services and ministry activities.

We do this using the platforms of sports and the arts, in the context of community development.
Job Overview
The Edge Soccer Coach is a passionate, dedicated coach responsible for delivering high- quality, holistic soccer training to youth players in the U6 – U12 and U13-15 age categories. The coach may also be called upon to serve additional open-age groups based on program needs and availability. Operating under the Coerver Coaching 5S Model– Skill, Speed, Strength, Smarts, and Spirit – this role goes far beyond technical instruction. The coach is entrusted to shape holistic, whole-person development: Character, leadership, purpose, and resilience in every player, every session.
Key Responsibilities
1. Coaching & Technical Delivery
- Plan, prepare, evaluate, and deliver engaging Coerver Code-based training sessions.
- Skill – Teach and develop the 5S fundamentals.
- Speed – Develop speed, agility, and ball mastery through purposeful drills and small- sided games.
- Strength – Build physical fortitude, resilience, and competitive tenacity in every player.
- Smarts – Develop game intelligence, tactical awareness, and decision-making under pressure.
- Spirit – Cultivate a growth mindset, sportsmanship, coachability, and winner’s mentality.
- Conduct fun, structured 3v3 / 4v4 /5v5 small-sided games, camps, and clinics.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes early to prepare equipment and the training environment.
2. Character and Leadership Formation
- Intentionally weave life skills, positive values, and personal development principles into every training session.
- Model and teach integrity, respect, teamwork, perseverance, and authentic servant leadership.
- Use sports as a platform for transformation- connecting soccer skills to real-life lessons and personal growth.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where every player feels valued and seen.
3. Character and Leadership Formation
- Build genuine, trusting relationships with players, parents, and guardians.
- Communicate clearly and warmly with families regarding player progress, schedules, and needs.
- Identify and nurture talent for Academy team selection and long-term player development pathways.
- Track players’ attendance, progress, and development consistently.
4. Program Operations & Support
- Support the Director of Soccer in planning and executing programs, camps, and outreach events.
- Assist with field setup, equipment management, and registration coordination as needed.
- Ensure all child safety, safeguarding, and emergency protocol guidelines are strictly followed.
- Participate in weekly team meetings, coaching development sessions, and staff devotionals.
- All player registrations and payments are processed exclusively through The Edge online portal.
Qualification & Requirements
Values A genuine commitment to positive character development, community impact, and inspiring young people to reach their potential.
Experience Minimum 1-2 years of soccer coaching and/or playing experience at youth, club, or competitive.
Cerification Prefered: USSF D/C Licence, Coerver Coaching Certification (if you’ve them), or other qualification that you may have.
Character Humble, dependable, enthusiastic, coachable, and a positive role model in and our off the field.
Communication Ability to connect warmly and professionally with youth, parents, and the broader team.
Background Must successfully pass a background check and adhere to all child protection guidelines.
Availability Must be available evenings & weekends for sessions, camps and clinics.
