Full Job Description

Human Resources ManagerMental Health & Recovery Detox CenterPosition Summary

LifeSync Malibu is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organized Human Resources Manager to join our team and support our growing mental health and recovery treatment programs. Our organization operates multiple residential treatment locations, including two mental health residences and one detox facility. The HR Manager will work directly with the Owner and Clinical Director to ensure smooth daily operations, maintain compliance standards, support employees, and foster a positive culture for both staff and clients. This role requires a hands-on HR leader who can serve as the face of Human Resources, build strong relationships, and provide guidance and support across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or another regulated environment, with strong knowledge of employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, workers’ compensation, compliance, and HR best practices.

ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Operations

Manage all aspects of Human Resources functions, including employee relations, onboarding, documentation, performance management, and staff support.
Serve as the primary HR contact and resource for employees across all facilities.
Act as a supportive and professional point of contact for staff and leadership.
Maintain employee records, HR policies, procedures, and confidential documentation.
Ensure employee files remain complete and compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
Support employee engagement, retention efforts, and workplace culture initiatives.

Recruitment, Hiring & Employee Relations

Lead the recruitment and hiring process, including posting positions, reviewing applicants, conducting interviews, and assisting leadership with hiring decisions.
Coordinate onboarding processes for new employees, including required documentation, training, and compliance requirements.
Manage employee lifecycle processes including promotions, transfers, performance concerns, corrective actions, and separations.
Partner with leadership to address employee concerns, workplace issues, and conflict resolution.
Assist with creating and maintaining policies and procedures.

Payroll & Benefits Administration

Oversee and process payroll activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
Maintain payroll records, employee changes, timekeeping, and required documentation.
Support employees with payroll questions and concerns.
Manage and support employee health insurance programs and benefits administration.
Assist employees with benefits enrollment, eligibility questions, and insurance-related concerns.
Communicate with insurance providers and benefit vendors to resolve issues.
Support annual open enrollment processes.

Workers’ Compensation & Employee Compliance

Manage workers’ compensation processes, including employee injuries, claims, documentation, and communication with applicable parties.
Assist employees with workers’ compensation-related questions and provide guidance throughout the process.
Maintain knowledge of California employment requirements, including EDD-related processes and documentation.
Ensure proper reporting and follow-up for workplace incidents and injuries.

Healthcare Compliance & Regulatory Support

Maintain knowledge and support compliance with applicable regulations, including:
Joint Commission standards
California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS)
California Department of Social Services (CDSS)
Behavioral health and residential treatment requirements
Assist leadership with audits, inspections, corrective action plans, and compliance preparation.
Monitor staff credentialing requirements, certifications, trainings, background checks, and required documentation.

Staff & Client Relations

Help create a positive, respectful, and professional environment for employees and clients.
Build trust and positive working relationships with staff across all three residential locations.
Support communication between ownership, clinical leadership, administrative teams, and residential staff.
Help ensure organizational policies and expectations are followed consistently.

Leadership Support

Work closely with the Owner and Clinical Director to improve operations, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
Provide HR guidance and recommendations regarding staffing, compliance, employee relations, and company growth.
Assist leadership with strategic HR planning and organizational development.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organizational Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
HR certification preferred (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).
Minimum of 3–5 years of Human Resources experience required.
Experience working in behavioral health, healthcare, detox, residential treatment, or another regulated healthcare environment preferred.
Experience processing payroll required.
Experience with employee benefits and health insurance administration required.
Experience handling workers’ compensation claims and EDD-related processes preferred.
Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, employee relations, and compliance standards.
Experience with Joint Commission, DHCS, and CDSS regulations preferred.
Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.

Preferred Experience

Experience supporting multiple locations or residential facilities.
Experience preparing for audits, inspections, and licensing reviews.
Experience partnering with executive leadership and clinical teams.
