REPORTS TO: Auxiliary Maintenance Reliability Manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automation Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of auxiliary conveying equipment within our manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with experience in automation systems, controls, and material handling equipment who enjoys solving technical challenges in a fast-paced production environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair auxiliary conveying systems and related automation equipment.

Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system issues to minimize downtime.

Program, adjust, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and automated control systems.

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on conveyors, loaders, feeders, vacuum conveying systems, and related equipment.

Support equipment startups, commissioning activities, and process improvements.

Monitor system performance and recommend modifications to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders in a timely manner.

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

Food Safety Responsibilities:
-
Monitors and verifies activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials are coming in and out of the facility meet consumer safety and quality standards.

Complies with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures

Reports any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured products to the location’s Food Safety Team Leader and submits an appropriate incident report
SKILLS REQUIRED:
-
( Preferred) Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Automation Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.

2+ years of experience maintaining automated industrial equipment.

Working knowledge of PLC systems, industrial controls, VFDs, sensors, and electrical troubleshooting.

Experience with auxiliary conveying equipment, material handling systems, or plastics processing equipment is preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.
-
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills
-
Experience with vacuum conveying systems, loaders, dryers, blenders, or centralized material handling systems.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and root cause analysis.

Understanding of industrial networking and communication protocols.

Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and a sharp focus on safety. Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
