Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join our Water, Fire, and Mold Restoration team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the insurance claims process and extensive experience using Xactimate to create accurate restoration estimates. This role is responsible for building and submitting estimates from start to finish, communicating and negotiating with insurance adjusters, addressing claim discrepancies, and securing claim approvals to ensure timely reimbursement for restoration services. This position requires a strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage claims in a fast paced enviroment.

Key Responsibilities

Create detailed and accurate restoration estimates using Xactimate for water, fire, mold, and other property damage claims.
Review job documentation, photos, moisture reports, and scope sheets to develop complete claim estimates.
Submit estimates and supporting documentation to insurance carriers.
Communicate directly with insurance adjusters to discuss scope, pricing, supplements, and claim approvals.
Negotiate claim settlements and supplements to maximize appropriate reimbursement.
Identify and resolve estimate discrepancies, denied items, and underpayments.
Obtain approvals for initial estimates and supplemental claims.
Monitor claim status and follow up with carriers to ensure timely processing and payment.
Maintain accurate records of all communications, approvals, and claim documentation.
Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and customers to ensure all claim information is complete and accurate.
Stay current on insurance guidelines, restoration industry standards, and Xactimate pricing updates.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in restoration estimating, insurance billing, or property claims.
Advanced proficiency with Xactimate required.
Strong understanding of water, fire, mold, and reconstruction restoration processes.
Experience negotiating directly with insurance adjusters and carriers.
Knowledge of insurance claim procedures and policy coverage interpretation.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple claims simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

IICRC certifications or restoration industry experience.
Experience with supplements and complex property claims.
Knowledge of carrier guidelines and restoration billing best practices.

Success in This Role

The successful candidate will consistently produce accurate estimates, effectively negotiate with adjusters, secure timely claim approvals, and help maximize revenue recovery while maintaining excellent customer and insurance carrier relationships.

Pay: $22.39 - $25.16 per hour
