A strong writer, clear communicator, and organized content coordinator who helps MOHI share ministry stories, updates, campaigns, and partner communications with clarity, care, and excellence. This team member serves as a primary writer for public-facing copy used to engage sponsors, donors, church partners, and other ministry supporters, helping turn ministry updates, interviews, reports, and campaign needs into polished content for review and publication.
This person brings together writing skill, creative thinking, attention to detail, and practical organization to support MOHI’s public-facing communications across print and digital channels. They help keep content, projects, media requests, and communication workflows moving forward in alignment with MOHI’s voice, values, and mission.
General Responsibilities

· Support the Director of Communications in planning, coordinating, writing, editing, and publishing ministry communications across channels.
· Help maintain consistent MOHI language, tone, story standards, and brand expression in public-facing and partner-facing content.
· Coordinate content requests, timelines, drafts, approvals, and follow-up details so marketing and communications projects move forward with clarity.
· Help the team build meaningful connection with MOHI ministry partners, church partners, child sponsors, and other audiences.
Targeted Responsibilities
1. Content writing and editing (10–15 hours weekly): Serves as a primary writer and content support role for MOHI’s public-facing copy, helping draft, edit, and prepare ministry content for review, approval, and publication. This role helps turn ministry updates, stories, reports, interviews, campaign needs, video concepts, and partner requests into polished communications used to share MOHI’s work with church partners, child sponsors, donors and other ministry supporters.
· Draft and edit public-facing copy across MOHI’s communication channels and content formats, including email, blog, social media, website, direct mail, print, digital, and mobile app.
· Assist with writing and preparing major communications projects, including the Annual Impact Report, brochures, one-pagers, project descriptions, campaign materials, event materials, fundraising appeals, and other collateral.
· Support recurring content needs, including monthly transformation stories, blog posts, community updates, child sponsor communications, church partner communications, newsletters, social media content, and fundraising campaign communications.
· Write and prepare scripts, talking points, interview questions, narration, and other written materials needed for video projects.
· Edit and proofread content for clarity, accuracy, consistency, grammar, tone, detail, and alignment with MOHI’s public-facing messaging guidelines.
· Coordinate with internal team members to gather needed details, clarify information.
· Summarize interviews, ministry updates, notes, reports, and source material into usable content drafts.
· Generate content ideas for MOHI’s public-facing communications, campaigns, and recurring content needs.
· Help adapt content for different audiences.
· Research content from like-minded organizations to help identify ideas, trends, language, formats, and opportunities that may strengthen MOHI’s communications.
2. Marketing and communications project coordination (8–12 hours weekly): Helps organize the flow of requests, tasks, deadlines, approvals, and deliverables across the department so communications work moves forward with clarity and excellence.
· Help plan, prepare, and release content across MOHI’s public-facing channels throughout the year.
· Track due dates, next steps, content status, approvals, and handoffs between Communications and other MOHI teams.
· Create and maintain content calendars, including yearly calendars, channel-specific calendars, campaign calendars, and recurring communications schedules.
· Manage and update project tasks in Asana or related project management tools.
· Keep recurring communications organized so deadlines are visible and responsibilities are clear.
· Coordinate with internal team members to gather needed details, photos, links, approvals, and source information.
· Help prepare project briefs, campaign timelines, meeting notes, follow-up lists, and production schedules.
3. Digital communications and public-facing platform support (6–10 hours weekly): Assists with preparing, publishing, and maintaining content across MOHI’s public-facing communication platforms.
· Build and schedule emails in HubSpot or related email tools using approved copy, images, lists, links, and campaign details.
· Build and schedule blog updates in HubSpot, including formatting copy, adding links, preparing images, checking SEO details, and reviewing posts before publication.
· Prepare and schedule social media content in HubSpot in coordination with the approved content calendar.
· Assist with website updates in WordPress or related content management systems, ensuring pages are accurate, well-formatted, and ready for publication.
· Upload videos to YouTube and help prepare supporting materials, including thumbnail images, titles, descriptions, links, tags, and related copy.
· Help maintain and review digital content, including campaign links, landing pages, forms, calls to action, project descriptions, and published materials, checking for accuracy, formatting, broken links, consistency, and alignment across platforms.
· Help manage content management systems and other public-facing communication tools with accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Creative and media coordination (4–8 hours weekly): Supports the practical coordination of creative content, photography, video, and design needs while helping projects move from request to final delivery.
· Prepare creative requests and provide needed copy, context, specs, deadlines, audience information, and project goals to designers, vendors, or internal teammates.
· Assist with gathering, organizing, labeling, and selecting photos, video clips, quotes, and story assets for communications projects.
· Help support digital asset management by maintaining organized folders, naming conventions, content libraries, photo and video files, campaign assets, usage notes, and other media records so creative materials can be easily found, shared, and reused.
· Communicate with MOHI’s Kenya Communications team to relay requests, gather feedback, answer questions, follow up on progress, encourage collaboration, and help keep projects moving forward.
· Review video drafts and provide organized feedback, track revisions, and help ensure final videos are accurate, respectful, and ready for use.
· Interact with ministry partners to follow up on media requests, clarify needs, answer questions, provide updates, and send final materials in a clear, gracious, and professional manner.
· Support basic layout, formatting, graphic preparation, video support, and content assembly for simple collateral, reports, presentations, partner resources, thumbnails, and campaign materials as needed.
5. Marketing operations and reporting support (2–5 hours weekly): Provides administrative, technical, and reporting support that helps the department work with excellence and make informed decisions.
· Assist with maintaining contact lists, segmentation notes, campaign records, and marketing data hygiene in HubSpot or related systems.
· Help gather basic performance metrics for emails, web pages, campaigns, social media, YouTube videos, and other communications efforts.
· Prepare simple reports, summaries, and updates that help the Director of Communications evaluate what is working and what needs improvement.
· Help identify opportunities to improve organization, clarity, consistency, and effectiveness across MOHI’s communication systems and platforms.

· Creative mindset with the ability to generate content ideas and help shape stories, campaigns, and communications for different audiences.
· Detail-oriented editor and proofreader with strong grammar, accuracy, consistency, and quality-control skills.
· Well organized and able to manage calendars, deadlines, tasks, files, approvals, and multiple projects at the same time.
· Technologically proficient and comfortable learning new platforms, tools, systems, and workflows.
· Experience with or ability to learn platforms such as WordPress, HubSpot, YouTube, Asana, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Final Cut Pro, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Cloudinary, and related communications tools.
· Basic design, graphics, video, formatting, and digital publishing skills preferred.
· Media savvy, with the ability to help coordinate photo, video, story, and partner media requests from initial request through final delivery.
· Analytical thinker who can review basic performance data and help identify what is working, what needs improvement, and what content may be useful in the future.
· Able to work independently under remote or distant supervision while remaining collaborative, responsive, and accountable to the team.
· Able to communicate clearly, graciously, and respectfully when asking questions, providing feedback, following up on progress, and helping resolve confusion.
· Demonstrated ability to work well with teammates in multiple locations and across cultures.
· Nonprofit, ministry, marketing, communications, writing, journalism, design, or related experience preferred.
Pay: $32,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
