Executive Chef – Senior Living

Location: Boise, ID (relocation assistance offered)
Salary: $80,000–$90,000 per year
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package
Schedule: Full-time

An established senior living community in Boise is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead its culinary program. This position is ideal for a hospitality-focused culinary leader who can combine the quality, creativity, and presentation of fine dining with the specialized nutritional needs of senior living residents.

The Executive Chef will oversee menu development, kitchen operations, culinary team leadership, food and labor costs, sanitation, and resident satisfaction. The successful candidate will have experience accommodating medically necessary dietary restrictions while ensuring meals remain flavorful, appealing, and thoughtfully presented.

Executive Chef Responsibilities

Lead all daily culinary and kitchen operations
Develop creative, seasonal menus with an upscale, fine-dining approach
Prepare and oversee meals for residents with therapeutic diets, food allergies, texture-modified diets, and other medically necessary restrictions
Partner with clinical, wellness, and community leadership to meet residents’ nutritional needs
Maintain high standards for food quality, flavor, presentation, consistency, and service
Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and develop culinary team members
Establish standardized recipes, portions, preparation procedures, and plating standards
Manage food and labor costs, purchasing, inventory, waste, and kitchen productivity
Maintain compliance with food-safety, sanitation, health department, and senior living regulations
Engage with residents, gather feedback, and continuously improve the dining experience
Support holiday meals, resident celebrations, and special events
Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen
Build a positive, collaborative, and service-focused culinary culture

Executive Chef Qualifications

Previous experience as an Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Culinary Director, or similar culinary leader
Senior living, healthcare, retirement community, or continuing-care dining experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of medically necessary dietary restrictions, therapeutic diets, and texture-modified meals
Fine-dining, upscale restaurant, luxury hotel, resort, or private club experience preferred
Strong culinary technique with an emphasis on flavor, presentation, consistency, and nutritional balance
Proven experience leading and developing a culinary team
Experience managing food costs, labor, purchasing, inventory, and budgets
Strong knowledge of food-safety and sanitation standards
Excellent communication, organization, and resident-service skills
Culinary degree or formal culinary training preferred
Current food-safety certification or ability to obtain one
Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
