G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a Junior Laboratory Technician to join its team in Ogden, UT.
Summary
The Junior Laboratory Technician performs laboratory testing to ensure commercial resin systems and raw materials meet established quality standards while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to laboratory safety procedures. This role also supports Research & Development with the evaluation of new materials for composite resin applications as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, motivated, and eager to develop technical skills in laboratory testing, instrumentation, and data analysis. This position reports to the Chief Chemist.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that commercially manufactured prepregs/resins are correctly evaluated and conform to the established test standards and within the appropriate test schedule timeline to meet production and product shipment needs.

Use analytical balances to precisely and accurately weigh-up prepreg materials

Thoroughly record all relevant data and experiments in a laboratory notebook

Help maintain the cleanliness of the laboratory environment

Operate thermal ovens and hydraulic presses to perform prescribed resin cure cycles, test resin flow, and test resin burn off

Work with solvents and prepregs/resins to perform resin content measurements

Participate in R&D group meetings and offer contributing ideas for improvement

Dispose of waste chemicals/prepreg according to company policies

Assist R&D scientists and other technicians with data file maintenance and other clerical tasks as assigned.

Able to perform routine and repetitive tasks with high detail, accuracy, and consistency
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year of work experience in an industrial/commercial/quality/research laboratory environment

For this position, formal academic education cannot be substituted for laboratory experience

Time management skills, demonstrated by previous experience, with ability to show that required deadlines for product quality assurance and research and development can be met

Able to read, understand, and follow detailed written operational instructions (OPIs)

Possess sufficient computer skills to navigate multiple instrument software packages

Comfortable handling (with the appropriate PPE), resinous chemicals, solvents, and other caustic/acidic materials

Willingness and ability to write and document daily work. This position involves keeping very detailed and in-depth records of all experiments in a laboratory notebook

Actual wages will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
