Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager / Tax Director

Ready for More Than Another Tax-Season Job?

Wealth Management CPAs is looking for an experienced tax professional to join our firm in a key leadership role.

We are intentionally open to hiring at the Tax Manager, Senior Tax Manager, or Tax Director level because we're focused on finding the right person—not simply filling a predetermined title.

Our tax practice prepares approximately 1,200 tax returns annually, and our longtime tax leader is beginning a gradual transition toward retirement. This creates a unique opportunity for the right person to work alongside an experienced tax professional, learn the practice and our clients, and assume increasing leadership responsibility.

For an exceptional candidate, this position could ultimately lead to overall leadership of the tax practice and a potential future path to partnership.

The Opportunity

This is not simply a tax preparation and review position.

We are looking for someone who wants to become an important part of the future of our firm.

Depending on experience, the position could range from a strong Tax Manager who takes significant responsibility for preparation, review, clients, and workflow to an experienced Director who is prepared to assume substantial leadership responsibility for the entire tax practice.

We care much more about finding the right person than fitting someone into a particular title.

What You'll Do

Depending on your experience and level, responsibilities will include:

Prepare and review individual, partnership, S-corporation, business, trust, and other tax returns
Review complex returns and provide technical guidance to other members of the tax team
Manage client engagements, deadlines, and tax-season workflow
Build strong, long-term relationships with clients
Provide proactive tax planning and strategy
Mentor and develop other tax professionals
Help manage capacity and ensure work moves efficiently through the firm
Identify opportunities to improve processes, technology, workflow, and efficiency
Collaborate with wealth management professionals when tax and financial planning intersect
Help evaluate staffing, pricing, client service, and other strategic decisions affecting the tax practice
Assume increasing responsibility for the operation and leadership of the tax practice

For a Director-level candidate, we would expect the role to include substantial ownership of tax operations, team leadership, client relationships, and the successful execution of tax season.

Who We're Looking For

The right candidate will likely have:

5+ years of meaningful tax experience, preferably in public accounting
Strong knowledge of individual and closely held business taxation
Significant tax preparation and review experience
The ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining quality
Strong client communication and relationship skills
Experience reviewing and developing other tax professionals
Excellent judgment, organization, and follow-through
A practical, problem-solving mindset
A willingness to take ownership rather than simply complete assigned work
An interest in leadership and helping build a better tax practice

CPA designation is strongly preferred, particularly for Senior Manager and Director-level candidates.

We care less about a specific number of years or a particular current title than we do about technical ability, efficiency, judgment, leadership, and the ability to take ownership.

Our longtime tax leader is gradually transitioning toward retirement, and we want to thoughtfully transfer his knowledge, client relationships, and responsibilities to the next generation of leadership.

An experienced Manager or Senior Manager could grow into that responsibility over time.

A proven Director-level candidate may be able to assume significant leadership responsibility much sooner.

We want to build a tax practice that provides outstanding service to clients while also creating a sustainable, rewarding long-term environment for our team.

Leadership & Long-Term Opportunity

For the right person, there is significant room to grow.

We aren't looking for someone who simply wants another job preparing and reviewing returns. We're interested in someone who wants the opportunity to help shape and eventually lead a tax practice.

For an exceptional individual who becomes a long-term leader of Wealth Management CPAs, we are open to discussing a future path to partnership and/or participation in the long-term success of the practice.

Partnership is not guaranteed as part of this position, but we want candidates to know that meaningful long-term opportunities are available for the right person.

Compensation

Because we're willing to hire at multiple levels, compensation will depend on experience, technical capabilities, leadership background, and the responsibilities the individual is prepared to assume.

Expected base compensation: $120,000–$190,000+, depending on experience and level.

We are willing to consider compensation above this range for an exceptional candidate with the experience and ability to assume significant responsibility for leadership of the tax practice.

Benefits and additional incentive compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
