VALDOSTA - LOWNDES COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION AUTHORITY

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: SITE SUPERVISOR

MILDRED HUNTER CENTER

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The position of Site Supervisor performs professional work in tasks that assist with the planning, organizing, and supervising of all activities occurring in the gym. This position is part-time in nature. This includes but will not be limited to carefully removing and redistributing any and all physical education equipment left in the gym(s) prior to the start of a practice or game(s), setting up equipment for practice or game(s), cleanup of facility, opening and closing of facility for the use of a practice or game, and supervising program participants. Other responsibilities may include, the supervision of late-night ball games, as well as enforcing all rules and policies regarding the use of the gym and those rules set forth by the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority (VLPRA), Valdosta City Schools, and Lowndes County Schools. Reports to Recreation Manager.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Monitors Mildred Hunter center events and weekend games.

Trains and supervises volunteer personnel for program as needed.

Sets up and puts away equipment.

Unlocks and ensures gym is clean before programs. Ensures gym is clean following programs and lock up.

Answers questions while games are in progress. Ensures rulings on situations that arise in games.

Collects and processes application forms.

Enforces policies regarding the use of gym and those rules set forth by VLPRA.

Supervises programs and late-night ball games.

Removes participants that break the rules set forth by VLPRA.

Locks the building up after programs and games.

Follows protocol for handling when participants become injured.

Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as registration and sponsorship forms, employee schedules, deposit forms, requisitions, and sports rules.

Refers to sports rules, employee and athletic schedules, registration and sponsorship forms, equipment checkout form, jersey order forms, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.

Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as coworkers, other department heads and staff, volunteers, umpires, concession workers, coaches, and the general public.

Performs related duties as required.

Serves as direct supervisor on site for Recreation Aides and Lifeguards.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED required. A bachelors degree and any amount of recreation programming experience preferred. Must possess a valid State driver’s license.

Pay: $14.00 per hour
