Full Job Description

We are looking for an intuitive Construction Accountant to join our team on a full-time basis! Axiom Group is a small business general contractor and we specialize in Public Works construction. We are located in the City of Los Angeles, and we take pride in building long-lasting relationships with our clients and within the company. The ideal candidate has previous experience with construction accounting and can work independently.

Responsibilities:

General Tasks

Perform routine administrative duties such as data entry, filing, scanning, and faxing documents
Maintain flexibility and openness to learn and take on additional projects as necessary

Accounting Operations & Vendor Management

Accounting management including A/P and A/R, monthly account reconciliations, payroll, fringe payments, vendor W-9 forms maintenance, etc.
Actively participate in project forecasting, recording contracts and tracking change orders, responsible for maintaining cost analysis and providing reports to management
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and closeouts for management review.
Provide support to internal and external audit process
File all backup for vendor and subcontractor payments, maintenance of all files, lien waivers and required documents
Maintain payment relationship with vendors and subcontractors

Construction & Job Cost Accounting

Support the Project Manager on cost reporting, forecasting, and change orders.
Receive approval on all invoices pertaining to projects in coordination with Supervisor and Project Management Team
Review and assist in preparing payment applications for accurate compliance to contracts and coding. Track and process lien releases.
Confirm subcontractor compliance documentation prior to issuing payment; Process outgoing vendor and subcontractor payments on a timely basis
Track job costs, process invoices, and monitor expenses
Develop and ensure recording of the project’s historical cost information and "lessons learned" for future use.
Support the Labor Compliance with payroll reports as necessary

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
5+ years of experience in accounting required
Experience with MS Excel, QuickBooks, Sage, Procore or other accounting software
Ability to work in an office environment (typing/sitting) and use of office equipment (scanning/printing/phones)
Exceptional follow through skills and ability to multitask, problem solve, plan, and execute work independently
Always maintain the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality, protect company and client proprietary information
Willingness to learn and positive attitude
Must possess valid driver license, reliable means of transportation, and a clean driving record.
Must pass pre-employment background screening, including criminal and financial/credit history checks

Salary:

$80,000 - $95,000 per year, dependent upon experience
