Full Job Description

Human Resources & Payroll Specialist

Position Overview

The Human Resources & Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting daily HR operations while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. This position works closely with employees, supervisors, and management to maintain employee records, manage attendance and timekeeping, assist with onboarding, and ensure payroll information is accurate and compliant with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

Manage and maintain accurate employee records and personnel files.

Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees.

Complete and maintain required employment documentation.

Explain company policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace expectations to employees.

Track employee attendance, absences, tardiness, and time-off requests.

Assist supervisors and management with employee relations and disciplinary documentation.

Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.

Assist with employee benefits enrollment and questions.

Help ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment regulations.

Prepare HR reports and documentation as needed.

Support employee communication and HR-related requests.

Payroll

Process and review employee timecards for accuracy.

Verify regular hours, overtime, meal periods, breaks, PTO, and other payroll adjustments.

Review attendance and timekeeping records before payroll submission.

Identify and correct payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.

Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.

Assist employees with payroll, direct deposit, paycheck, and timekeeping questions.

Coordinate payroll corrections and adjustments with management or the payroll provider.

Ensure payroll information is submitted accurately and on schedule.

Maintain confidentiality of payroll and compensation information.

Timekeeping & Attendance

Monitor employee clock-ins and clock-outs.

Review missed punches and timecard discrepancies.

Work with supervisors to verify employee hours.

Ensure employees follow company timekeeping procedures.

Maintain accurate attendance records.

Assist with scheduling and approved time-off requests when needed.

Qualifications

Previous experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or a related administrative position.

Previous payroll processing experience required.

Experience with timekeeping or payroll software preferred.

Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and employee time records.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to maintain confidential employee information.

Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

HR, payroll, or related certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and work at a computer for extended periods.

Ability to work in an office and food-production/warehouse environment as needed.

Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management throughout the facility.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in an office environment while regularly interacting with employees, supervisors, and management in a food-production and warehouse facility. The employee must follow all company safety, food-safety, sanitation, and confidentiality requirements.

Schedule: As assigned by management

Pay Rate: Based on experience and qualifications

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
