Job Summary
LEDdynamics is seeking a QA/QC Associate to join our growing LED lighting and driver manufacturing business. This position plays a critical role in bridging physical product testing with systematic process oversight to ensure our products are always meeting customer specifications as well as regulatory compliance requirements. As a QA/QC Inspector you will monitor manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and other relevant quality management systems while leading internal audits and documenting the findings. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the production line and ensuring all outputs meet our high standards. The hours of operation for this position are 7:00am to 3:30pm.
Responsibilities:
-
In-Process Audits: Conduct regular walkthroughs of the production floor to verify that assembly and soldering processes align with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
-
Root Cause Analysis: Identify and investigate the cause of recurring defects in LED drivers or light engines; collaborate with production to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
-
Process Verification: Monitor critical control points, such as electrical testing, fixture assembly and component placement, to prevent "quality escapes".
-
Incoming Inspection: Verify that raw materials (e.g., capacitors, LEDs, PCBAs) meet purchase order specifications and electrical requirements before they reach the line.
-
Functional Testing: Perform electrical tests on LED drivers, including continuity, insulation resistance, and power factor verification using calibrated meters.
-
Final Product Check: Execute visual and dimensional inspections of finished fixtures to ensure they meet aesthetic standards and customer specifications.
-
Document Control: Maintain precise records of all inspections, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and test data to ensure full traceability under ISO 9001 guidelines. Generate quality procedures and systems as needed to achieve quality objectives within the business.
-
Internal Auditing: Lead internal audits of departments to ensure the company remains "audit-ready" for external bodies like UL, ETL, or ISO.
-
Regulatory Knowledge: Stay current on 2026 standards, including UL 8750, ISO 9001, Energy Star, and FCC electromagnetic interference requirements.
-
Calibration Management: Track and enforce the calibration schedule for all measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, and photometers.
Other duties as assigned.
-
Job Skills and Preferred Qualifications:
-
Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in electronics or a related technical field preferred.
-
Experience: 2–3 years of quality inspection experience in an electronics manufacturing environment (specifically with SMT or LED assembly) preferred.
-
Certifications: Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 is essential; ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or IPC-A-610 certification is a plus.
-
Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and using data logging software.
-
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot minute defects such as micro-cracks in solder or misaligned components.
