About Sydor Technologies

Sydor Technologies designs and manufactures advanced scientific and industrial measurement systems used by customers around the world. Our team works on cutting-edge technologies supporting research, defense, industrial, and commercial applications.

We're looking for an Electronics Assembly & Soldering Technician who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in building high-quality electronic assemblies. This role is ideal for someone with experience in precision soldering, PCB assembly, and prototype manufacturing who wants to work closely with engineers in a collaborative, low-volume manufacturing environment.

Position Summary

The Electronics Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, soldering, inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting electronic assemblies used in prototype and low-volume production environments.

The primary focus of this role is precision hand soldering of printed circuit boards (PCBs), while also supporting functional testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position works directly with engineering to help transform designs into reliable, manufacturable products.

Essential Responsibilities

Electronics Assembly

Perform precision hand soldering of SMT and through-hole electronic components.
Assemble printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies using engineering documentation.
Perform PCB repair and rework as required.
Assemble prototype and production hardware while maintaining high workmanship standards.
Work under microscopes to assemble and inspect delicate electronic assemblies.

Testing & Troubleshooting

Perform basic troubleshooting of electronic assemblies to identify defects or assembly issues.
Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other electronic test equipment.
Support engineering with prototype validation and product development activities.
Document assembly, testing, and repair activities.

Manufacturing Support

Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.
Maintain accurate production documentation.
Identify quality concerns and recommend improvements to manufacturing processes.
Support engineering and production teams with prototype and low-volume manufacturing activities.
Assist with additional technical and manufacturing projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in electronics assembly, PCB assembly, electronics manufacturing, or a related field.
Experience with SMT and through-hole soldering.
Experience assembling and reworking printed circuit boards.
Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation.
Comfortable working under a microscope performing precision soldering.
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

Associate degree in Electronics Technology or related technical field.
IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification.
Experience troubleshooting electronic assemblies.
Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electronic test equipment.
Experience supporting prototype or low-volume manufacturing.
Experience in scientific instrumentation, aerospace, defense, or industrial electronics manufacturing.
