JOB SUMMARY
The Avionics Technician III is a senior-level avionics technician responsible for performing complex troubleshooting, modifications, installations, system integrations, inspections, and technical evaluations of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. This position serves as a technical subject matter expert, provides mentorship to technicians, and supports operational excellence through regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform complex troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, installations, and testing of aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
- Lead avionics activities associated with major maintenance visits, modifications, and return-to-service projects.
- Diagnose and resolve complex system integration and aircraft electrical issues.
- Interpret engineering data, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and aircraft modification packages.
- Support engineering, inspection, and quality personnel with technical evaluations and troubleshooting expertise.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Avionics Technician I and II personnel.
- Assist with work planning, task sequencing, and workforce development.
- Support customer, FAA, and quality audits as required.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, approved technical data, and Company procedures.
- Maintain required personal tools in accordance with Company Tool Control procedures.
- Follow Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Prevention procedures.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Certifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
-
Graduation from an Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS) preferred.

Technical, vocational, military, or aviation maintenance training preferred.
-
FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) preferred.
Experience
-
5 or more years of avionics maintenance experience.
-
Experience in a Part 145 Repair Station, Part 121, military, or equivalent aviation environment preferred.
- Heavy maintenance, modification, return-to-service, or commercial aviation experience preferred.
- Documented fleet specific formal training courses such as 40-hour General Familiarization courses or ATA 104 level 1, 2, 3, or 4 courses preferred.

Documented fleet specific engine run and taxi training and qualifications preferred.
Qualifications

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Ability to obtain airport driving privileges.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
Tools Requirement

Avionics Technician III are required to provide and maintain a complete set of personal aircraft maintenance tools necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Personal tools must be maintained in good working condition and comply with Company Tool Control, Tool Accountability, and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Prevention requirements.

Avionics Technician III are responsible for the security, maintenance, and replacement of their personal tools.

Specialized tooling, calibrated equipment, test equipment, and Company- controlled tooling required for specific maintenance tasks will be provided by the Company.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in aircraft hangars, maintenance facilities, airport ramps, and outdoor operational environments. Employees are routinely exposed to aircraft noise, moving machinery, elevated work platforms, and varying weather conditions. The position may require exposure to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids, solvents, cleaning agents, and other materials commonly associated with aircraft maintenance. Employees are expected to comply with all Company safety policies, FAA regulations, OSHA standards, and PPE requirements. Overtime, shift work, weekend work, and holiday work may be required to support operational needs.
