Full Job Description

COUNSELOR

Distinguishing Features of Work: With the supervision of a QMHP, provide counseling and case management services to primarily children and adolescents with mental health issues.

Illustrative Examples of Work:

- Maintains a counseling caseload which includes individual, family, couple and group therapy as needed, counseling case management and/or consultation;

- Completes assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning activities;
- Assists the Psych NP in educating clients/family about psychotropic medications;
- Lead PSR group sessions as assigned;
- Utilize acceptable clinical techniques to effect client change according to goals/objectives of client;
- Uses case management skills and/or staff appropriately;
- Participates in interdisciplinary clinical staff meetings;
- Works jointly with other disciplines to arrange services beyond his/her scope;
- Required to achieve individual target amount set for each FY;
- Serves on review committees as assigned by the Director of Behavior Health and

LCHD Administrator;
- Attends/completes necessary training events in order to obtain/maintain professional certification/licensure;
- Complete all paperwork/documentation within 48 hours;
- Other duties as assigned by Director.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field required;

- Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred;

- Meets the requirements for Mental Health Professional or Qualified Mental Health Professional according to Rule 132

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Requires demonstrated ability to work constructively with clients, other providers and the community
- Requires basic knowledge of psychotropic medication and side effects
- Requires knowledge of community resources for referral purposes
- Requires understanding and ability to put into practice the Mental Health Code and

Confidentiality Act.
- Requires understanding and ability to put into practice applicable agency policies and procedures

Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Reports to: Director of Behavior Health and/or Supervising QMHP
Supervises: N/A

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
