Full Charge Bookkeeper / Accounting ManagerPosition Summary

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper / Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of our growing construction company. This is a full-time position responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple related companies, processing payroll, managing intercompany transactions, and providing financial reporting and analysis to ownership and management.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with QuickBooks, construction accounting, payroll administration, and financial reporting. This individual will play a key role in supporting company leadership by providing timely financial information, assisting with project reporting, and participating in regular financial management meetings.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Management

· Maintain the general ledger and oversee all day-to-day accounting functions.

· Manage accounting records for multiple related companies.

· Record and reconcile intercompany and related-party transactions.

· Perform monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations.

· Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.

· Prepare monthly adjusting journal entries.

· Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.

· Prepare monthly financial statements including Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Cash Flow information, and Budget-to-Actual comparisons.

· Assist management with cash flow forecasting and working capital management.

· Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and GAAP.

Construction Accounting

· Maintain contract schedules and project cost reports.

· Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) schedules.

· Track project costs, billings, retainage, and job profitability.

· Assist management with project financial reviews.

· Monitor contract status and maintain project financial reporting.

· Coordinate with project managers regarding job cost information and financial performance.

Payroll & Human Resources Support

· Process weekly or bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely.

· Maintain payroll records and employee information.

· Process payroll tax filings and related reporting.

· Administer employee deductions, benefits, and garnishments.

· Coordinate year-end payroll reporting including W-2s and reconciliations.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

· Process vendor invoices and maintain vendor records.

· Prepare and process electronic payments and checks.

· Monitor vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.

· Prepare customer invoices and monitor collections.

· Reconcile accounts receivable and assist with collection efforts.

Management Reporting

· Prepare financial reports for ownership and senior management.

· Participate in regular financial management meetings.

· Provide analysis of financial results and operating trends.

· Prepare reports requested by lenders, bonding companies, and outside accountants.

Compliance & Year-End Support

· Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.

· Assist outside CPA firm with year-end tax preparation and financial statement engagements.

· Assist with insurance audits, workers' compensation audits, and payroll audits.

· Support banking relationships and loan reporting requirements.

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements.

Qualifications

· Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).

· Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.

· Minimum of 3 years of construction accounting experience preferred.

· Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop.

· Experience processing payroll.

· Experience managing multiple related entities.

· Strong understanding of general accounting principles.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

· Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· Construction industry experience.

· Experience with job costing and WIP reporting.

· Experience with related-party accounting.

· Knowledge of sales tax and payroll tax reporting.

· Experience working with lenders and bonding companies.

Full-time
Monday through Friday
Standard business hours, with occasional additional hours during month-end or year-end closing

Compensation

Salary commensurate with qualifications and construction accounting experience.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
