Server Engineer – Connecticut-Based MSP

Connecticut-based Managed Service Provider is seeking an experienced IT Engineer with 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting business IT environments. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in a fast-paced MSP environment, enjoys working across diverse technologies, and takes pride in delivering exceptional technical and customer support to small and mid-sized businesses.

This is an in-office position based in Connecticut, with a mix of remote support and occasional on-site visits to client locations. You'll work alongside a collaborative team, managing and supporting a wide range of server, cloud, networking, and end-user technologies.

What You'll Do

Manage and resolve escalated helpdesk tickets across server, cloud, networking, and end-user environments
Administer and maintain client infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure
Support client onboarding, technology migrations, and infrastructure deployments and upgrades
Serve as a trusted technical point of contact for SMB clients, building strong relationships through consistent, professional service
Document solutions, configurations, and processes to support team knowledge sharing
Collaborate with teammates on complex issues and projects

What We're Looking For

Deep, hands-on expertise with Microsoft server and cloud technologies including Windows Server (2019/2022/2025), Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and Entra
Exposure to virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
Proven experience with networking, firewalls (e.g., SonicWall), VLANs, VPNs, and wireless solutions
Familiarity with RMM and PSA platforms (e.g., ConnectWise)
Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Datto, Axcient, Veeam)
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to independently manage a wide variety of technical issues
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical clients
Professional, customer-focused approach with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
