Job Title: Warehouse/Inventory Specialist
Job Summary:
A Warehouse/Inventory Specialist ensures the efficient operation of a warehouse through accurate inventory management, organization, and order fulfillment. The role reports to the Warehouse Manager and includes the following responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Unloading
- Inspect and document incoming shipments for accuracy and damages.
- Ensure all shipments are recorded in the inventory management system within 24 hours of receipt.
- Stock Organization
- Organize and store inventory by designated categories to maximize space efficiency and accessibility.
- Maintain a 98% accuracy rate in stock location and labeling.
- Order Picking and Packing
- Fulfill customer orders by picking items within an average time of 10 minutes per order.
- Ensure 100% accuracy in order picking and secure packing to prevent damage during shipment.
- Loading and Unloading Trucks
- Safely load and unload trucks using the appropriate equipment, ensuring completion within designated time-frames (e.g., 30 minutes per truckload).
- Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels and update inventory records daily.
- Alert the purchasing team to low-stock items to prevent back-orders, maintaining stock levels to meet demand consistently.
- Maintaining Cleanliness
- Perform daily cleaning tasks to ensure the warehouse meets safety and cleanliness standards.
- Complete weekly deep cleaning and inspection checklists.
- Order Management
- Review and sign off on incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy.
- Collaborate with purchasing agents to replenish stock, maintaining a target inventory turnover ratio.
- Inventory Audits
- Conduct inventory audits monthly with a target accuracy of 99%.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports identifying discrepancies or potential loss.
- 5S Implementation
- Adhere to the 5S methodology (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), completing monthly compliance checks.
Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1–3 years of warehouse experience.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and basic computer skills (Excel, ERP systems).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Familiarity with safety procedures and warehouse best practices.
- Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
- Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
- Proficient keyboarding skills.
- Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to develop professional relationships with outside vendors.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with computerized inventory systems required.
- Forklift operator certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing on concrete floors
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to navigate warehouse and reach items both high and low.
Work Environment:
Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
